That man can have nothing but what he strives for;
(The Star) In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
وَا ْ ِ ِإذَا هََى
١ 1.
By the Star when it goes down --
٢ 2.
َ َ َُُِ ْ َوَ ََى
Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled,
" !َ ِ اََْى ُ ِ#َ$ ََو
٣ 3.
Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire.
٤ 4.
&َُ$ ٌ(ِْإنْ هُ َ ِإ َو
It is no less than inspiration sent down to him:
َُى+ْ ا,ُ $ِ,َ- .ُ َ/ 0َ!
٥ 5.
He was taught by one mighty in Power,
٦ 6.
ََى2ْ3َ4 ٍة7 ِ ذُو
Endued with Wisdom: For he appeared (in stately form)
٧&َ0ْ!َ9ْا 7.
While he was in the highest part of the horizon:
٨ 8.
& ,َ َ2َ4 َ>ُ َدﻥ
Then he approached and came closer,
٩ 9.
" ِ ُ4ُ9َِْوهُ َ ﺏ
&َْ ِ َأوْ َأدْﻥAَ3َْB ب َ َB ن َ ََ4
And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer;

&َْ َ َأوEِ ,ِ َْ! &ََوَْ& ِإ9َ4
10. So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant -- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey.
١١
َا ُد َ َرأَىHُIْب ا َ Jَ ََ آ
11. The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw.
١٢ َى7َ$
َ &َ0َ! .ُ ََرُوﻥ/ُ2َ4َأ
12. Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw?
١٣
َى7ْL ُأNً َْOَ ﻥEُ Pَْ ر,َ+ََو
13. For indeed he saw him at a second descent.
١٤
&ََ2ُْ/ْْ َر ِة ا,ِ3 ,َ ِ!
14. Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass:
١٥
ْوَى9َ/ْ اNُ َهَ ﺝ,َ ِ!
15. Near it is the Garden of Abode.
١٦
&َRْSَ$ َ ْ َر َة,TUَ& اRْSَ$ ِْإذ
16. Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!)
١٧
&َSَV َ َو7ُ َWَْغ ا َ َ زَا
17. (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong!
َى7ُْْ ا.ِ Tت َرﺏ ِ َ$P ْ ِ ْ َرأَى,َ+َ
١٨
18. For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest!
ىOُ[ْت وَا َ 0ُ ُ ا2ْ$َأ7َ َ4َأ
١٩ 19. Have ye seen Lat, an Uzza,
َى7ْLُ9ْ اNَ َ\ِ \َوََ َة ا
٢٠
20. And another, the third (goddess), Manat?
٢١
&َ\ُﻥ9ْ ا.ُ َ َو7ُ َآJ َأَُ ُ ا
21. What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female?
٢٢
َىOAِ ٌNَ/ْUِB ] ِإذًا َ ْ0ِﺕ
22. Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair!
ن ٍ َ#ْ0ُ3 ِ َِ ﺏ.ُ 0 َل اOَ ﺏَ ُؤآُ أَﻥPَُ ْ و2ُهَ أَﻥ/ُ2ْA /َ3 َء/ْ3( ِإ َأ َ ِِإنْ ه 23. These are nothing but names which ye have devised -- ye and your fathers -- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever).
b ُ ُIَﻥ9ْ َوَ ﺕََْى اcن ِإ ا َ ُ[ِ 2َ$ إِن They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire! --
٢٣
َى,ُِْ ُ اT رﺏT ُْ ﺝَءه,َ+ََو
even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord!

٢٤
& َ/َن َ ﺕ ِ َUِﻥdْ0ِ َْأم
24. Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after?
٢٥
&َُو9ْ ُة وَا7َ ِLfْ ا.ِ 0ِ0َ4
25. But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong.
ًgْAَ- ْ ُُ2َ!َIَ- (ِْSُت َ ﺕ ِ َوَا/ Uِ( ا4 ] ٍ َ0 T ََوآ 26. How many so ever be the angels in the heavens, their intercession will avail nothing
٢٦
&َْ7َ$َء َوRَ$ َ/ِ .ُ 0ن ا َ ْ َذ9َ$ أَن,ِ ْ[َِإ ِ ﺏ
except after Allah has given leave for whom He pleases and that he is acceptable to Him.
٢٧
&َ\ُﻥ9ْ اNَ َAِ/ْUَ ﺕNَ ََِﺉ0َ/ْن ا َ i/َUُAَ َ ِة7ِLfِْن ﺏ َ ُِْHُ$ َ َ $ِJ ن ا
ِإ
27. Those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names.
cن ا
َوِإcن ِإ ا َ ُ[ِ 2َ$ ْ ٍ إِن0ِ! ْ ِ .ِ َِوَ َُ ﺏ 28. But they have no knowledge therein. They follow nothing but conjecture;
٢٨
ًgْAَ- " T َjِْْ( ِ َ اSُ$ َ
and conjecture avails nothing against Truth.
٢٩
َAْﻥ,i َ َة اAَjْدْ ِإ ا7ِ ُ$ ْ َﻥَ َو7ِ ْضْ !َ ﺕَ َ & !َ ِذآ7ِ ْ!َ9َ4
29. Therefore shun those who turn away from Our Message and desire nothing but the life of this world.
ِ ْ0ِ[ْ َ اT ُُSَ0َْ ] َ َِذ 30. That is as far as knowledge will reach them.
٣٠
َى,َ2َْ ِ اه/َِ ُ ﺏ0ْ! َوهُ َ َأ.ِ ِ0Aَِ3 َ! َ َ/َِ ُ ﺏ0ْ!] هُ َ َأ َ ن َرﺏ
ِإ
Verily thy Lord knoweth best those who stray from His path, and He knoweth best those who receive guidance.
ض ِ َْر9ِْ( ا4 َت َو ِ َوَا/ Uِ( ا4 َ .ِ 0َِو 31. Yea, to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth;
٣١
&َْUُjَُِْا ﺏUْ َ َأ$ِJ ي ا َ Oِ ْ َ$ُا َو0ِ/َ! َ/َِؤُوا ﺏ3 َ َأ$ِJ ي ا َ Oِ ْ َAِ
so that He rewards those who do evil, according to their deeds, and He rewards those who do good, with what is best.
َ َ/ 0 ِإ اm َ ََِاIْ>ْ ِ وَاdِ ْ ا7َ َُِِنَ آََﺉ2ْ َ$ َ $ِJ ا 32. Those who avoid great sins and shameful deeds. Only (falling into) small faults,

ِة7َ ِIْSَ/ْ اnُ ِ3] وَا َ ن َرﺏ
ِإ verily thy Lord is ample in forgiveness.
ْ ُِن ُأ َﺕ ِ ُ#ُِ( ﺏ4 ٌN ُِ ْ َأﺝ2َرْضِ َوِإذْ أَﻥ9ْ َ اT َُآ9َRَ ُ ﺏُِ ْ ِإذْ أَﻥ0ْ!هُ َ َأ He knows you well when He brings you out of the earth, and when ye are hidden in your mother's wombs,
٣٢
&َ+ َ ِ اﺕ/َِ ُ ﺏ0ْ!َُ ْ هُ َ َأUُIا أَﻥiآOَ َُ ﺕ0َ4
therefore justify not yourselves. He knows best who it is that guards against evil.
٣٣
& َ َِي ﺕJ اo َ ْ$َأ7َ َ4َأ
33. Seest thou one who turns back.
٣٤
َى,ًْ َوَأآ0Aِ0َB &َ#ْ!َوَأ
34. Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)?
٣٥
َى7َ$ َ َُ4 p ِ ْAَSْْ ُ ا0ِ! Eُ ,َ ِ!َأ
35. What! has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see?
٣٦
&َ3ُ q ِ ُjُ (ِ4 َ/ِْ ﺏ9 َُ$ ْ َ َْأم
36. Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the books of Moses --
٣٧
& 4ِي َوJ َ اAَِاه7َْوِإﺏ
37. And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements? --
٣٨
َى7ْL ُر وَا ِز َرةٌ ِوزْ َر ُأOِ ََأ ﺕ
38. Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another;
٣٩
&َ[َ3 َ ن ِإ ِ َUِﻥdْ0ِ b َ ْA َوأَن
39. That man can have nothing but what he strives for;
٤٠
َى7ُ$ ف َ َْ3 .ُ َAْ[َ3 ن
َوَأ
40. That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight;
٤١
&َ4َْو9َْاء اOَ ْ اEُ َاOْ ُ$
ُ>
41. Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete;
٤٢
&ََ2ُ/ْ] ا َ Tن ِإَ& َرﺏ
َوَأ
42. That to thy Lord is the final Goal;
٤٣
&َْ] َوَأﺏ َ َjْ هُ َ َأ.ُ َوَأﻥ
43. That it is He who Granteth Laughter and Tears;

٤٤
َAْت َوَأ َ َ هُ َ َأ.ُ َوَأﻥ
44. That it is He who Granteth Death and Life;
٤٥
&َ\ُﻥ9ْ وَا7َ َآJ ْ ِ اAَوْﺝO " ا َ َ0َL .ُ َوَأﻥ
45. That He did create in pairs -- male and female.
٤٦
&َْ/ُ ِإذَا ﺕNٍ َIْ#iِ ﻥ
46. From a seed when lodged (in its place);
َى7ْLُ9َْ َة ا9ْR ا.ِ ْAَ0َ! ن
َوَأ
٤٧
47. That He hath promised a Second Creation (raising of the Dead)
&َْB هُ َ َأَْ& َوَأ.ُ َوَأﻥ
٤٨
48. That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction;
َى7ْ[TRب ا i هُ َ َر.ُ َوَأﻥ
٤٩
49. That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star);
٥٠
&َُو9ْ] !َدًا ا َ َ0ْ َأه.ُ َوَأﻥ
50. And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people),
٥١
&َ+َْ َأﺏ/َ4 ُ َد/َ>َو
51. And the Thamud, nor gave them a lease of perpetual life.
٥٢
&َSْVَ َ َوَأ0ْtَْ ُ ِإﻥ ُ ْ آَﻥُا هُ ْ َأB T ح ٍ َُْ َم ﻥBَو
52. And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) Most unjust and most insolent transgressors.
٥٣
َأهَْىNَ َِIَْﺕHُ/ْوَا
53. And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah),
٥٤
& Rَ َ َ هRَSَ4
54. So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up.
٥٥
َرَى/َ2َ] ﺕ َ Tَء َرﺏP ي T َ9َِ4
55. Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about?
٥٦
&َُو9ْ ِر اJُ i َ اT ٌ7$ِJََا ﻥJَه
56. This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old!
٥٧
Nُ َ4 ِزfْْ اoَ4َأ ِز
57. The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh:

ٌNَIِ-َ آ.ِ 0ن ا ِ ََ ِ دُوb َ ْAَ
58. No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare.
٥٩
ن َ َُ ْ[َ ﺕu ِ $ِ,َjَْا اJَِ ْ ه/َ4َأ
59. Do ye then wonder at this recital?
٦٠
ن َ َُْن َوَ ﺕ َ َُjْvََوﺕ
60. And will ye laugh and not weep --
٦١
ن َ ُو,َِ3 ْ ُ2َوأَﻥ
61. Wasting your time in vanities?
٦٢
ُوا,ُْ! وَا.ِ 0ِ ُوا,ُ ْ3َ4
62. But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)!
