Public Notice for the change of category of Haslingden Primary School from Community School to a Foundation School and for the acquisition of a foundation 1. Notice is given in accordance with section 19(3) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Haslingden Primary School Governing Body intends to make a prescribed alteration to Haslingden Primary School, Ryefield Avenue, Haslingden, Rossendale Lancs, BB4 4BJ. The proposed alteration is to change category from community school to a foundation school and to acquire a foundation established otherwise than under SSFA 1998 from 1 September 2009. 2. The name of the foundation to be acquired by the Governing Body is The Futures Learning Trust. Membership of Futures Learning Trust includes: - Haslingden Primary School - Accrington Peel Park Primary School - St Leonards C of E Primary School, Padiham - Burnley Football Club - The Life Channel 3. The Futures Learning Trust will foster and strengthen collaboration between its partner schools which is a partnership of Foundation Schools including Haslingden Primary, Accrington Peel Park Primary and St Leonards C of E Primary School, Padiham. The Trust will provide high quality leading communication technology based opportunities to enable all pupils and staff to maximise learning through innovative approaches. The Trust is committed to working collaboratively across the areas of East Lancashire, using technology to build leadership capacity and extend personalised learning for all its community.

The Governing Body will gain new powers and responsibilities. It will become the employer of all staff and existing pay and condition arrangements will be maintained now and for the life of the Trust as the school will remain in the maintained sector and will honour national and local pay and condition agreements. The Governing Body will also become responsible for pupil admissions but will work jointly with the Local Authority for the provision of pupil places. Finally, the Governing Body will have day to day control over the school premises. The schools land and buildings will transfer to the Futures Learning Trust to be held in Trust for the duration of its relationship with the school.

5. This is a summary notice of the proposal to make the alterations listed above. Copies of the full proposals can be obtained from reception at Haslingden Primary School, Ryefield Avenue, Haslingden, Rossendale, Lancs, BB4 4BJ. Within four weeks from the date of publication of these proposals, any person may object to or make comments on the proposals by sending them to the Governing Body, at Haslingden Primary School, Ryefield Avenue, Haslingden, Rossendale Lancs,BB4 4BJ.
