Introduction Safety WARNING The DocuColor 2045/2060 contains an invisible laser. There is no visual indication that the laser beam is present. During servicing, the DocuColor 2045/2060 is a Class 3B product because of the invisible laser. the laser beam could cause eye damage if looked at directly. Service procedures must be followed exactly as written without change. The service representative must observe the established local laser safety precautions when servicing the DocuColor 2045/2060. Do not place tools with a reflective surface in the area of the Charge Corotron or the ROS window. Do not look in the area of the Charge Corotron or the ROS window if the power is On and the laser is energized with the Toner Cartridge Unit removed. The following symbol and statement appear on a label in the machine when the Toner Cartridge Cover or the Toner Cartridge Unit are removed. The symbol by itself, or the symbol and the statement may also appear in the service documentation and in the training program. When this symbol appears, the service representative is warned that conditions exist that could result in exposure to the laser beam.

Figure 1 Laser Hazard Symbol Laser Hazard Statement DANGER INVISIBLE LASER RADIATION WHEN OPEN. AVOID DIRECT EXPOSURE TO BEAM. For additional information, review the Laser Safety Training program.

CAUTION The use of controls or adjustments other than those specified in the Laser Safety Training Program may result in an exposure to dangerous laser radiation.

About This Documentation WARNING Use extreme care while working on the machine with power on in the Customer Mode. If a print job is sent, the machine will start up automatically.

Main Driver PWB WARNING When making measurements on the Main Driver PWB Test Holes, do not allow the tip of the multimeter probe to touch the metal frame located behind the Main Driver PWB.

This Service Manual is part of the multinational documentation system for the DocuColor 2045/ 2060. This manual will help in the isolation and repair of faults that may occur in the machine. Use the ESD Kit and the established ESD procedures when accessing parts of the copier other than those normally accessed by the operator. The Kit and procedures must be used even though PWBs are not touched directly. Components of the copier can be damaged by electrostatic discharge. NOTE: This manual is part of a documentation system that includes the training.

Drum Drive PWB WARNING When making measurements on the Drum Drive PWB Test Holes, do not allow the tip of the multimeter probe to touch the metal frame located under the Drum Drive PWB. Connect the multimeter between Test Hole J412-B6 Drum Drive PWB and GND.

This manual contains Repair Analysis Procedures, Adjustment Procedures, Parts List, Diagnostic Procedures, Installation Procedures, and Wiring Data information that will enable a service representative to repair the copier. This manual is divided into nine sections. A Publication Comment Sheet is provided at the end of this manual.

Photoreceptor Drum Light Shock CAUTION Protect the Photoreceptor Drum from the light by covering it with the bag when the Drum is removed from the machine or exposed to light. The bag is stored in the Tray 3 storage compartment. The Drum can be damaged by light shock.

Electrostatic Discharge Damage CAUTION Use the ESD Kit and the established ESD procedures when accessing parts of the machine other than those normally accessed by the operator. The Kit and procedures must be used even though PWBs are not touched directly. Components of the machine can be damaged by electrostatic discharge.

Toner, Developer and Drum CAUTION Do not store the Toner, the Developer, or the Drum in the service vehicle.

About This Manual

AC Voltage Nomenclature ACH is used in the documentation to designate one side of the AC line. The voltage level on this line depends upon the local AC power supplied to the machine. ACH2 is used in the documentation to designate the other side of the AC line. The voltage level on this line depends upon the local AC power supplied to the machine. The voltage measured between ACH and ACH2 is generally in the 200 to 250 VAC range and depends upon the local AC power supplied to the machine
