Introduction What is the purpose of the ZT Recovery Center? The ZT Recovery Center helps you to fix problems with your computer, using backup and recovery functions. 1. To start the ZT Recovery Center, click “ZT Recovery Center” from the Windows “Start” menu, or click the ZT Recovery Center icon from the desktop.

How do I recover my system? From time to time you may experience issues with Windows. To fix most problems, you can try to recover your system. Can I backup my files before recovery? Yes, you will have the option to recover your system with or without backup of your files. What happens during recovery? First, if you have selected to back up your files before running the recovery, the process will begin with the file and folder backup step. Then, the process will continue with the format of your hard drive. The final step is the reinstallation of your computer contents (operating system + factory installed programs + drivers that were originally installed). To access recovery: 1. On the welcome screen of the ZT Recovery Center, click “Recovery”. ZT System Recovery is on a protected area of your hard disk. You need to restart your computer to access it.

Restart to launch ZT System Recovery 2. Select “Yes, restart my computer now” and click Next to continue.

How do I recover my programs? From time to time you may experience trouble with a program. ZT Recovery Center allows you to reinstall programs that come with your system from the factory. 1. On the welcome screen of the ZT Recovery Center, click “Programs”.

Programs menu 2. Click “Application recovery” to access a list of programs you can reinstall. You can also click “Add/Remove programs” if you prefer to use the Microsoft Add/Remove program utility to attempt to repair or uninstall the application.

List of programs 3. Select from the list the program you need to reinstall, and click Next. Why isn’t my program listed here? The programs listed here are those that were already installed when you purchased your computer. If a program does not appear in the list, it was not installed at the factory. To reinstall these program, insert its original installation disc into the drive, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Program successfully reinstalled The program has been successfully reinstalled. It is recommended to restart your computer. 5. Select “Yes (Recommended)” and click Finish to restart your computer as recommended, or Select “No” and click “Finish” to come back to the program list.

How do I recover my drivers? From time to time, you may experience malfunction with a driver, hardware or device. To solve that, you can try to reinstall the driver of the hardware or device. What is a driver? A driver is the program that manages the Windows connection to the hardware or the device. 1. On the welcome screen of the ZT Recovery Center, click “Hardware”.

Hardware menu 2. Click “Device driver recovery” to access a list of programs you can reinstall. What is ZT User Guide? The drivers listed here are those that were installed when you purchased your computer. If a driver does not appear in the list, you may have installed it on your own. To reinstall this driver, insert its original installation disc into the drive, and follow the on-screen instructions.

How do I create system recovery discs? Why create system recovery discs? System recovery discs are important. They allow you to reinstall the system in case of problems and provide a backup to the factory installed software on your system It is recommended that you create recovery discs as soon as possible after you purchase your computer. 1. On the welcome screen of the ZT Recovery Center, click “Factory Recovery external media”.

What if I don’t have blank discs available at home? We recommend you purchase high quality blank CDs or DVDs immediately to create your recovery discs. If you have access to network storage, you may also create a ISO images and create discs later using your CD/DVD burning software, when you have blank discs available (See the “Create an ISO image” section).

Create system recovery discs What do the system recovery discs contain? The system recovery discs contain all the files required to recover the system to the original factory state (Windows, Applications and Drivers), as well as the programs to perform the recovery.

Insert a blank disc 1. Insert a blank disc of any type into the drive, and wait while the ZT Recovery Center program recognizes the type, and calculates the number of discs you will need to continue. Then, click Next to continue.

Type of disc inserted, and number of discs required 5. If you have enough blank discs of this type, then select “I have enough discs, continue with this type of media”, and click Next to continue (else, select “I want to insert another type of media” and click Next).

Create an ISO image Why is it useful to create an ISO image? For small businesses of more experienced users, network or USB drives may be used to store the image for later burning. What does the ISO Image contain? The ISO image contains the files required to recover the system to the original factory state (Windows, Applications and Drivers), as well as the programs to perform the recovery.

How do I create Applications and Drivers external media? You can create an additional disc containing only the applications and drivers installed on your computer when you bought it. 1. On the welcome screen of the ZT Recovery Center, click “Applications and Drivers external media”. The process is exactly the same as the one for the creation of system recovery discs. Please refer to the “How do I create system recovery discs” section.
