Immanuel and St. Andrew CE Primary School Year 4 Class Bulletin Term 1

September 2008

Dear Parents / Carers, Welcome to Year 4’s Term 1 Class Bulletin! I can’t believe how quickly the summer holidays went by and it’s now the start of a new academic year. I am very excited about teaching Year 4 this year and so far it’s been fantastic. As you are aware all the classes from Years 1 to 6 are going to be developing their creative curriculum this year. I will be talking more about this in the meeting on Thursday 11th at 3pm so I hope to see you all there. But for now it is suffice to say that our theme for this term is ‘Go for Gold!’ I will be basing all our work around the Olympics to make it more exciting for the children. For example our science topic is ‘Keeping Healthy’ which ties in very well with the spirit of the Olympics. We will be looking at the history, important events that have taken place and we are going to create our own Olympic logos for the 2012 Olympics and see if we can come up with something better! If you have any questions, queries or concerns, please do contact me. I look forward to meeting those parents that I have not yet had a chance to. Omayma Laing Email: [email protected]

The latter part of the term, we will focus on stories with historical settings and the children will write their own short stories set in the past, using their oral stories to structure the written versions. I would appreciate your support in improving our school attendance level from 96.5% to 98%! Lastly please make sure your children are in the playground at 8:50am ready

There will 40 spellings altogether. Depending on your child’s ability, some will just need to learn the first 10 words (easiest), some will choose to learn the first 20 words and some children may choose to learn all 40 words. PPA – I will not be in class on Wednesday mornings as it is my PPA time (planning, preparation and assessment time!).
