nfection prevention and control (IPC) is a quality standard and is essential for the well-being and safety patients, staff and visitors. Provision of an effective infection control programme is a key to the quality and a reflection of the overall standard of care provided by the health care institution. The major Infection prevention and control effort should be focused in hospitals and others health facilities. Risk prevention for patients and staff is a concern of everyone in the facility, and must be supported by the administrator of the hospital. The hospital manager or medical director is ultimately responsible for safety and quality . And must ensure that approviate arrangement are in place for effective infection prevention and control practices. There is an Infection Control Committee (ICC) as a forum for multidisciplinary input, cooperation and information sharing. The ICC Membership should reflect the spectrum of clinical services and Control Nurse (ICN).

n Infection Control Nurse (ICN) or practitioner is a registered nurse with an academic education and practical training which enables him or her to act as a specialist advisor in all aspects relating infection prevention control, including : identifying, controlling, and preventing outbreaks of infection in health care settings and the community. The ICN is usually the only full
time practitioner on the Infection control Team and therefore takes the key role in a day to day infection control activities.

nsuring the use of safe, effective and ethical infection prevention and control measures is an important component of nursing care. All nurses, in all roles and setting, can demonstrate leadership in infection prevention and control by using their knowledge, skill and judgment initiate appropriate and immediate infection control procedures. In Discussion of Infection prevention and control (IPC) efforts, one word appears more frequently then any others is training. Few if any others element of IPC can be considered as crucial to the success of an IPC program as ongoing training in safe attitude and practices. Training is the essential element in IPC standard, which mandates that workers have the right to be informed and trained. And continuing education is the most effective way to ensure that IPC requirements are met. Developing an infection prevention and control nurse’s training program should be develop based on the ICN competences and roles.
