Guidance Notes for RCOG Ultrasound Training BASIC MODULES Early Pregnancy Ultrasound (8-12 weeks) Ultrasound Assessment of fetal size, liquor and the placenta INTERMEDIATE MODULES Ultrasound of Normal Fetal Anatomy Ultrasound in Gynaecology Ultrasound of Early Pregnancy Complications Basic modules are manadatory for all trainees commencing at ST1-3 from August 2008 For trainees commencing at ST4 –7 or SpR’s from August 2008 there is no mandatory requirement to complete the basic modules unless required for ATSMs- see table. Intermediate modules are free standing. They can only be undertaken after completion of basic clinical training. For trainees in ST4-7 or SpR’s from August 2008 there is no requirement to complete the basic ultrasound modules prior to intermediate modules. For trainees in ST1-3 from August 2008, there will be a natural progression from basic to intermediate modules. Intermediate modules can be undertaken in parallel with or prior to ATSMs- see table.
