PRAYER OF CONFESSION Let us remember Jesus, who, though rich, became poor and dwelt among us; who was mighty indeed, healing the sick and the troubled; who, as teacher to his disciples, was their companion and servant. May we ever be grateful for Jesus the Christ and what he has done for us. Let us remember Jesus, who prayed for the forgiveness of those who rejected him ; who loved all people and prayed for them, even if they denied and rejected him; who hated sin because he knew the cost of pride and selfishness, of cruelty and hatred, both to people and to God. May we ever be grateful for Jesus the Christ and what he has done for us. Let us remember Jesus, who humbled himself, obedient unto the cross. God has exalted him who has redeemed us from the bondage of sin and given us new free. May we ever be grateful for Jesus the Christ and what he has done for us and continues to do for us. PRAYER TIME Feel free to pray at the altar or your seat.

TO OUR COMMUNITY. . . I knew I was in trouble in Hebrew class the first day. I knew I was in trouble from the moment Dr. (Hurry-up) Harry Hunt made the statement that the Hebrew Bible begins in the back and all Hebrew reads from right to left instead of from left to right. Yep, I was in trouble. However, in the midst of my trouble God divinely intervened. Whenever things were not working out for me in the class (most of the time), Gods love helped me through. I am very grateful for that Hebrew class because I still remember the kind of love that God has that helped me. That love gets translated in scripture as, “lovingkindness” and “steadfast love”. I have forgotten many things from that first Hebrew class. But, I have never forgotten the Hebrew word checed. That word is defined as love “…by one person to act on behalf of another, who usually is dependent on the aid of the first and helpless to function adequately without it.” That is truly how I felt in Hebrew class and many times since then. I know we all have times when we simply need God’s help to intervene in our lives. It is because of his checed love for us that we can always count on God to intervene for us. It does require something on our part. That something is trust. The Psalmist says it best when he writes, “…but the LORD’S unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts him.” Psalm 32:10b. If that were the sum total of all I learned in two semesters of Hebrew, the two semesters would have been well worth it. Trust in God and in his unfailing, steadfast, lovingkindness. I do need to add a belated thank to Dr. Hunt and Dr. Langston (Jenice Langston’s brother-in-law) for teaching Hebrew and being very patient. Praying for you, John
