Get the apical pulse below left nipple line using bell of stethoscope.

Diaphragm of stethoscope may also be used.

Measure for 15 seconds (with uncooperative children), then multiple by 4 to get rate/min.

Usually measure radial and femoral.

Assess rhythm, character, delays.

Bladder covers 2/3 of the upper arm.
o
Bladder is 1/2 width of upper arm.
o
Cuff goes all the way around.
Measure R arm, keep at level of heart.
