El riesgo en hombres y mujeres sexualmente activos, a traves de la vida es de al menos 50%.1 – Para los 50 años de edad, al menos el 80% de las mujeres, habrán contraido una infección genital por HPV.1 Incidencia estimada en 6.2 millones por año1 Prevalencia estimada en 20 millones por año2 En sujetos sexualmente activos entre 15 – 24 años de edad, aproximadamente 9.2 millones están actualmente infectados.3 – Se estima que el 74% de las nuevas infecciones por HPV ocurren en este grupo de edad.3 – En estudios de mujeres menores de 25 años, las tasas de prevalencia se encuentran entre 28 – 46%.4,5

CARGA ECONOMICA DE INFECCIONES POR HPV NO CERVIX

CANCER DE PENE El cáncer de pene es raro se presenta en 1/100.000 hombres y corresponde al 0.3 al 0.5 de todos los canceres. Se diagnosticaron en el 2003 1145 casos en USA y 1.530 en el 2006 . El virus de VPH se ha asociado a esta neoplasia en rangos del 15 al 80%. El 77.5% de todos los cáncer de pene eran positivos para HPV . De los cuales el HPV 16 se presentaba en el 84.2% y el 18 en el 10.5%. Histopathology 2007;22

EL HOMBRE COMO VECTOR








Un hombre promiscuo lleva a un aumento de 6.9 RR de CACU a su pareja. Una mujer con CACU tiene una probabilidad de 5.3 de tener una pareja que halla tenido más de 20 compañeras sexuales. Una mujer tiene 3 veces mas riesgo de tener CACU si su pareja ha tenido coitos con mujeres con este tipo de CA.
