The Beauty of Islaam By the Noble Shaykh Salaah Muhammad Aal Shaykh ﺣﻔﻈﻪ اﷲ
LLAAH SAYS in the Qur’aan, “This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and chosen for you Islaam as your religion.” [Al-Maaidah 5:3]
A
Allaah has informed us the reason why we have been created. He said, “And I (Allaah) created not the jinns and humans except that they should worship Me (Alone).” [AdhDhaariyaat 51:56] Hence, we have been created to worship Him although He is not in need of our worship. He is rich, free of all wants, not in need of anything from anyone. Rather, this is a trial and a test for us. He told us what we should know
and also that what we know is little, regarding the complete knowledge of everything. Nevertheless, we know enough to allow us to live our life in peace, knowing why we have been created. We know how we should spend our life - who we should worship and how we should perform this worship. We know what will happen to us in our graves after our death, and after we are raised from our graves to face the Day of Judgement. Allaah said, “…when a party will be in Paradise (those who believed in Allaah and followed what Allaah's Messenger brought them) and a party in the blazing Fire (Hell) (those who disbelieved in Allaah and followed not what Al-
laah's Messenger brought them).” [ash-Shooraa 42:7] All these things we know by having yaqeen (certainty) and eemaan (belief). Allaah has shown us the signs that make us believe this. We see His signs in His creation – in the skies, the stars, the moon, the sun, the rivers, the land, and in ourselves, our creation and our souls. His beautiful creation all around lets us know that there is a Creator who created all of this, and who is worthy of being worshipped. He also gave us the fitrah (natural disposition). He said, “And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of

Be with the Truthful By the Noble Shaykh 'Abdullaah ibn Abdur-Rahmaan Al-Jarboo ﺣﻔﻈﻪ اﷲ Excerpted from a lecture which shaykh delivered for albaseerah.org LLAAH SAID, “O you who believe! Be afraid of Allaah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds).” [AtTawbah 9:119] This is a wasiyyah (command) from Allaah for those who believe in the pillars of eemaan (belief) – that along with their belief they must remain truthful with those who are truthful. To fully comprehend this wasiyyah we need to understand two important matters:
A
1. Who are the truthful people? 2. What is the reality of truthfulness that Allaah has commanded the believers to be upon? If we understand these two issues that were mentioned then we would be able to properly apply the ayah in the Qur’aan, “Oh you who believe! Be afraid of Allaah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds).” The truthful people are, of course, all the Prophets, the companions of ‘Eesaa (the Hawaariyoon), the companions of Prophet Muhammad and every Muslim who has followed in the footsteps of these people. They are the people that are the Saved Sect. If we follow these people as understood in the verse of the Qur’aan, then in the Hereafter we will be with them inshaa Allaah, as Allaah said, “And whosoever obeys Allaah and the Messenger (Muhammad ), then they will be in the company of those on whom Allaah has bestowed His Grace, of the Prophets, the Siddiqoon (those followers of the Prophets who were first and foremost to believe in them, like Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq the martyrs, and the righteous. And how excellent
these companions are!” [An-Nisaa’ 4:69] The reality of that which is “truthful” (sidq) is that which agrees with what is truthful. And that which is truthful is based upon the teachings of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah (the teachings of Prophet Muhammad based upon the understanding of the Salaf as-Saalih (pious predecessors). If a person is truthful in their statements, their actions, their beliefs and their intentions; and this is based upon that which is indicated in the Qur’aan and the Sunnah, then this individual is inshaa’ Allaah of those who are truthful and he has achieved the reality of truthfulness in this life. Therefore, in summary, the reality of ‘truth’ consists of truthfulness based upon the Qur’aan and Sunnah within our hearts, our intentions, our actions and our statements. All of these comprise the reality of achieving ‘truthfulness’ or ‘sidq’. If a Muslim has attained these attributes as mentioned, then he has attained the foundation of truthfulness. However, this is not enough as the Shaykh ﺣﻔﻈﻪ اﷲwent on to clarify. A person after attaining the foundation of truthfulness should then help Allaah , help His Prophet and help this Deen. This is done by having correct thoughts, ideas and ideologies about this Deen, and by spreading this Deen properly and commanding the good and forbidding the evil, and about encouraging one another to that which is correct and encouraging one another to have patience. It is also by learning about this Deen and after learning,
spreading that which has been learnt. This all entails defending Islam from its various angles. There are many subrelated issues that are tied to the major issue of ‘truthfulness’. This requires understanding the many verses that are related to it and understanding the various statements related to it. ♦♦♦
AHADEETH (Continued from page 1) man from Blahjeem who said, “I asked: ‘O Messenger of Allaah! Who should I make du`aa’ to?’ He said: ‘Call on Allaah Alone. If you were afflicted with harm and you supplicated to Him, He would relieve you of it. If you became lost in a desolate land and you supplicated to Him, He would return you to your place. If you were afflicted with drought and you supplicated to Him, He would produce vegetation’.” [No. 420] On the authority of Abu Hurairah that a man complained to the Messenger of Allaah about having a hard heart, so he said to him: “If you want to soften your heart, then feed the needy and stroke the head of an orphan.” [No.854] ♦♦♦ [Taken from Silsilah

Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam's loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): "Am I not your Lord?"…” [Al-A’raaf 7:172] THE
FITRAH
The Prophet Muhammad said “All children are born upon the fitrah.” [AlBukhaaree and Muslim] When the human is born he is upon the fitrah, he knows that it is Islaam, but his father or mother changes and diverts his fitrah i.e. the worship of Allaah. This fitrah is knowing that there is a creator who we should believe in, and worship. Allaah did not leave us in this (life) but He sent us the Messenger and He gave us the Book that contains the details of how we should worship, and who we should worship, and what the reward of the worshipper and the non-worshipper is. So, we know all of this and this is really a ni’mah (favor) for which we should be grateful and thankful to Allaah . SEEKING KNOWLEDGE
All praise is due to Allaah for providing us with this evidence. However, we need to acquire knowledge by studying the Qur’aan and the authentic Sunnah in order to see the truth clearly. As we seek more knowledge and attain more understanding of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah our belief will grow stronger and deeper. This is why the belief of some of the Companions was as if they were seeing Heaven and Hell. This needs work on our part because eemaan increases and decreases. Allaah mentions in the Qur’aan that it increases by our good deeds and decreases by our bad deeds. This Religion is complete by virtue of being able to understand the whole picture. We don’t seek knowledge of everything as Allaah has told us that
there are things that we don’t know and which we don’t need to know. HOW TO LIVE OUR LIFE
We know that Allaah is Merciful and He talks and hears and He does all this with absolute perfection. We don’t need to know ‘how’ He talks or ‘how’ He hears, we just need to know that there is absolute perfection in His hearing and that He can hear everything, everywhere, including all voices, and He can hear them all at the same time.
Page 3 ISLAAM - THE BALANCED WAY Islaam has a complete system regarding every aspect of our society. It has a complete economic system – there is zakaat, charity, the means by which individuals can own things and there is a balance between what an individual needs and the money of the society. There is also a social system i.e. how you treat your father and your relatives, how you marry, treat your wife, raise your children, how you divorce and how your money is distributed when you die. We also have a political
“Islaam, this religion that we believe in, has a complete system regarding every aspect of our society.” We have just enough knowledge that allows us to live comfortably, and to know why we live and what to expect after our death. We cannot worship Allaah as we like; we must only worship Allaah the way Prophet Muhammad showed us. This is the meaning of ‘Bearing witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah’. This Religion has also shown us how to treat ourselves, what manners we should have, how we should face problems, how we should perceive life, how we must deal with sickness, or if we get rich, how to talk to people and how to treat other people. It shows us the relationship (that should exist) between us and others – with one’s wife, husband, children, parents, neighbours and with those in the Muslim society. It also shows us how to treat the nonMuslims; our relationship with them must be based on peace and love for all human beings. Allaah said about His Prophet , “And We have sent you (O Muhammad ) not but as a mercy for the 'Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists)” [AlAnbiyaa’ 21:107]
system which is complete - who should be the leader, what the leader’s rights are on his people and the peoples’ rights on the leader. Also the security system and the punishment (Penal) system which creates a very secure and very safe environment that people can live in i.e. you can be very comfortable about your money, your house, and not being killed. Because this penal system punishes the people who deserve to be punished, the society can live happily. It is a system that is from Allaah and that is why it is perfect. CONCLUSION We should be very happy and very pleased to be Muslims; we should try to spread the word of Islaam to all those who we love and all those who we know so that we will have a reward from Allaah. This is our life, and it is very important. Our self (life) is very valuable to us and we have to work very hard to save it, to live a happy life, and to do mainly what we have been created for i.e. to worship Allaah . ♦♦♦ Taken from www.albaseerah.org

Call to Islaam with gentleness By Shaykh 'Alee Muhammad Naasir al-Faqeehee ﺣﻔﻈﻪ اﷲ Excerpted from a lecture which shaykh delivered for albaseerah.org
ALAFIYYAH IS NOT a claim that is claimed upon the tongue. Rather, it is something that has to be followed up by actions. When the Prophet informed that this Ummah would split into 73 sects and that all of them would be in the Hellfire except one, he was asked, 'and which is that one, O Messenger of Allaah?' He said, 'That which I am upon and my Companions.' [at-Tirmidhee] Hence, the Prophet informed that this Saved Sect who will be saved from the Fire, are the Salafus-Saalih, the righteous predecessors. They are the ones who were upon that which the Messenger of Allaah and his Companions were upon.
S
Therefore, we need to look at that which the Prophet was upon as it relates to his 'aqeedah (belief system), his worship, his transactions and interactions. What was he upon? Then likewise, we look at what the Companions of the Messenger of Allaah were upon in those previously mentioned affairs. We also need to look at what Allaah said to His Messenger. He
said to His Messenger, the best of examples, as comes in Soorah Aal'Imraan, {And by the Mercy of Allaah, you (Muhammad ) dealt with them gently. And had you been severe and harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about you; so pass over (their faults), and ask (Allaah's) forgiveness for them; and consult them in the affairs. Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allaah, certainly, Allaah loves those who put their trust (in Him).} [Aal'Imraan 3:159] Here we see that Allaah has prohibited His Messenger from having evil character; He let His Messenger know that if he was evil, harsh and hardhearted, they would have left from around him. So, if the person is truly upon Salafiyyah, then he is upon that which the Messenger of Allaah was upon from good characteristics, gentleness and leniency. Also, we need to look at the example of the one who was harsh, hard, and stern when he
came to the Prophet and grabbed him. He said, "Yaa Muhammad, give me from that which Allaah has given you". So the Companions of the Messenger of Allaah wanted to deal with this individual, but the Prophet prevented them from doing so. [Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim] Even though he was the Messenger of Allaah and this man did what he did to him, the Messenger of Allaah prevented them from doing anything to this man. So whoever claims to be Salafi, then it is upon him to be patient, to persevere, and to have forbearance; and it is upon him to guide the people to that which is good, so these callers may themselves be an example to those they are calling.♦♦♦
Even the Creatures Have Rights By the Noble Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen رﺣﻤﻪ اﷲ
F
ROM THE BEST of manners is to be lenient with both humans and animals under your ownership. So being lenient with the human beings under your ownership is to feed them as you feed yourself, to clothe them as you clothe yourself and not burden them with that which they cannot bear. And being lenient with the animals
under your ownership, inclusive of those which are used for riding or milking; each one differing according to that which you require them for. So in winter you place them in a warm place if they cannot bear the cold, and in the summer in a cold place if they cannot bear the heat. And to provide food and drink if they cannot take care of themselves. If the animals are from
those which are used for carrying people (goods), then not to overburden them with that which they cannot bear. This is indicative of the completeness of the Sharee`ah (Islaamic Legislation), and that it has not left anything out, even the creatures. Rather, it has allocated for them their rights.♦♦♦ From Fatwa-online.com

N THIS ISSUE, we will mention the remaining Characteristics of the Scholars. They are as follows:
Sunnah. The Prophet mentions in the hadeeth: “The Qur’aan is an evidence for or against you.” [Muslim]
♦ They have humility and they fear
2. Knowledge found in the heart – this is the beneficial knowledge. Al-Hasan رﺣﻤﻪ اﷲsaid that, “Knowledge is of two types, knowledge on the tongue is the evidence of Allaah against the children of Aadam as comes in the hadeeth: “The Qur’aan is an evidence for or against you.” and knowledge in the heart is the truly beneficial knowledge.”
Allaah, depend on Him and adhere to whatever He commands. ‘Awf ibn Maalik al-Asja’ee narrated that: “The Prophet once looked at the sky and he said “This seems to be the time of the raising up of knowledge,” so one of them said: “O Messenger of Allaah, how is it that knowledge will be raised up and we have the Book of Allaah and we read it and we study it and ♦ They do not try to find an easy we teach it to our children?” The Prophet life which goes against the Deen said: “I used to consider you one of the and they stay away from innovamost knowledgeable people of Ahlul tions and from discussions which Madeenah, didn’t the Jews and Christians have no basis in the Deen. When have their book with them? ♦ Their knowledge is in the heart and not on the tongue. Knowledge is of two types: 1. Knowledge on the tongue – this is the evidence of Allaah that is used to convey to the people from the Qur’aan and from the
Deen, as well as a desire to free themselves from the responsibility of the fataawa that would be given. For this reason, we find that this was the mannerism of the sahaabah who were chosen to be the companions of the Prophet . They used to
try to pass the issuing of the fataawa to someone else who might be more knowledgeable in their eyes. Sometimes a person would come into Madeenah and he would ask a question, and he would be told to go to someone else, and that person would say to go to someone else and he would go to that second individual who would tell him to go to a third, until he would go all around Madeenah and return to the first individual. As such, we find that the Mufti (the person who passes religious rulings), should have certain qualities. ♦♦♦ NEXT ISSUE: The Characteristics of the Mufti
Eliminating Pride If one wants to purify himself from kibr (pride), he should look to those who are less fortunate than him and at the same time, he should observe the ni'mah (favour) which Allaah has bestowed upon him from physical health, wealth, status and children. He should know that Allaah is AllPowerful and capable of removing all these blessings in an instant. Undoubtedly, this characteristic (pride) is an attribute of the creation which is blameworthy and not from the praiseworthy attributes. It is upon mankind to behave humbly toward the people - whether men or women, young or old. He must ask his Rabb (Lord) to remove this characteristic from him, especially whilst in sujood (prostrations) during his salaah. ♦♦♦ Shaykh Abdullaah Al Ghudyaan

The Nullifiers of Islaam This is the second of a two-part series based on a treatise by the Noble Shaykh Abdul Azeez Ibn Baaz رﺣﻤﻪ اﷲ
In the last issue we mentioned that the scholars have said that there are several ways that one may apostate from Islaam, and we mentioned five (5) of the most dangerous of these nullifiers. In this issue we will discuss the remaining five (5) mentioned by the Shaykh. Whoever mocks anything from the religion of the Messenger , or (from any of) its rewards and punishments has disbelieved, and the proof for that is the Almighty saying, {Was it at Allaah, and His Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and His Messenger () that you were mocking? Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after you had believed. } [At-Tawbah 9:65-66]
6
7
Magic, and from it is causing hatred amongst a man and his partner or causing a person to show extraordinary affection to his spouse; and whoever does it or allows it, has indeed disbelieved. The proof is as the Almighty said, {but neither of these two
(angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us).} [AlBaqarah 2:102] Supporting the polytheists and helping them against the Muslims. The proof is that the Almighty said, {And if any amongst you takes them as Auliyaa', then surely he is one of them. Verily, Allaah guides not those people who are the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers and unjust).} [Al-Maa'idah 5:51]
8
Whoever believes that some people have the right to exit from (or abandon) the legislation of the Prophet Muhammad is considered a disbeliever. Allaah the Almighty says, {And whoever seeks a religion other than Islaam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers.} [Aali-Imraan 3:85]
9
Averting or turning away from the religion of Allaah, by not learning it nor acting upon it. The Almighty says, {And who does more wrong than he who is reminded of the Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord, then he turns aside therefrom? Verily, We shall exact retribution from the Mujrimoon (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.)} [As-Sajdah 32:22]
10
There is no difference regarding all of these nullifying acts for one who is the joker (sarcastic), serious, and the scared person, except the (one who is) coerced. All these nullifying actions pose the greatest danger and are the most frequent in occurring. It is necessary for the Muslim to be cautious of them, and to be afraid for his soul from them. We seek refuge in Allaah from His wrath and from the pain of His punishment, and peace and blessing be upon the best of his creation, Muhammad, and his family and companions. ♦♦♦
Shaqeeq b. Ibraaheem reports:
“
It was once said to ‘Abdullah b. Al-Mubaarak, “After you have prayed with us you don’t sit with us?” He replied, “I go and sit with the Sahaabah and the Taabi’een.” We said, “And how can you sit with the Sahaabah and Taabi’een (when they have all passed away)?” He replied, “I go and read the knowledge I have collected, I find their narrations and deeds. What would I do with you? You sit around backbiting people.” [Siyar A’laam Al-Nubalaa]
Question: Can a woman take shahaadah (to enter into Islaam) while she has her period, or must she have a ghusl (ritual bath) before pronouncing the shahaadah? Answer: As it relates to the menstruating woman, if the opportunity presents itself she should pronounce the Shahaadatayn (two testimonies of faith) and enter into the
fold of Islaam. When her menses stops she should then make ghusl with the intention to: (1) Rid herself of the impurity of menses and (2) Perform the ghusl for entering into Islaam. She doesn't know if she will live until she becomes pure; therefore, if Allaah has blessed her with the opportunity to accept Islaam she should do so. ♦♦♦ Shaykh Abdullah Al Ghudyaan

Mother Marrying in Church
Dealing with Verbal Abuse
Question: My mother, who is a Christian, is getting married soon inshaa' Allaah and the marriage will take place in a church. She wants me and my wife to attend. What is your advice to me?
Question: We are living as a minority in the lands of the disbelievers. Many incidents of verbal abuse occur here. For instance, you may be driving a vehicle and some of the disbelievers use hand signals or yell out to you. Are you able to retaliate with the like of them i.e. make hand signals towards them, or stop the car to threaten them, or should you have sabr (patience) so that you can also give them da`wah to Islaam?
Answer: In reality even though there are times when you have to look at the benefit that issues like this may bring, there is no doubt that there is much shirk in the church where the marriage is going to take place as the priest may mention matters of shirk etc. Therefore, it is not permissible to be there or to attend churches, as Allaah said, {then after the remembrance, sit not you in the company of those people who are the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrong doers).} [al-An`aam 6:68] We advise the brother with giving his mother her rights regarding kindness, and as such he should excuse himself in a good manner, from attending. Perhaps he may give her an appropriate gift so that she will maintain good relations with him. However, it is not permissible to attend the church due to the shirk that occurs within.♦♦♦ Shaykh Wasiullaah alAbbas ﺣﻔﻈﻪ اﷲ
Answer: The answer is as the Prophet said: "the Muslim is not one who curses others nor is he one who is a constant criticizer nor does he have a filthy mouth or filthy actions."1 This type of filth that is done with hand signals and verbal threats/abuse is not to be retaliated with its like, because the believer, as the Prophet said, is not filthy in his actions or statements. Allaah says when describing the servants of ArRahmaan, {and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity.} [Al-Furqaan 25:72] Allaah also says, {and turn away from the foolish} [Al-A’raaf 7:199] However, if it is at all possible to give

Praying whilst one has the urge to relieve himself Question: Based on the hadeeth
“there is no prayer if food has been prepared or if one is fighting the two filth (urination and feces),” if
one does this, does it lead to nullification of his prayer? Answer: It depends on his situation; if fighting off the two filths leads him to be unaware of what is he is saying, then his prayer is not correct. But if he is able to repel the two filths without any disturbance, then his prayer is correct but (praying in this condition) is disliked.♦♦♦ Shaykh Muqbil ibn Haadi Al-Wad’aee رﺣﻤﻪ اﷲ
