DEPARTMENT AND PROGRAM OVER VIEW (CURRENT) MECHANICAL



SAVEETHA UNIVERSITY PHILOSOPHY is to be recognised for setting the standards of excellence in professional education and high quality scientific research.



The University promotes academic excellence, widen intellectual horizons inculcate self-discipline high ideals for total personality development of individual to convert a novice in to competent professional with excellent theoretical knowledge and unsurpassed lab skills and motivate interest in research activities for further education.



The quality policy is to promote quality education to convert a novice in to a competent expert in the relevant field at par with global standards by meeting the far reaching expectations and requirements of the students through dedicated faculties with updated systems and continued improvement



MECHANICAL DEPARTMENT PHILOSOPHY is to be a centre of excellence for the dissemination of knowledge in Mechanical Engineering and to provide a dynamic ambience for working in “State of Art” technology applicable to industrial, research and social needs.



Our curriculum is not just courses to major and minor in, but rather helps students further thread their specializations, and help customize their learning track providing for accelerated, normal or slow learning pace.



Students will not be sitting through one way discourses, but rather would be experiencing a series of active cooperative learning strategies, that incorporate different type of learning for different content like inquiry based learning, problem based learning. In fact, there are no class rooms; only learning spaces. Every learning space is uniquely designed to suit the diverse learning needs. The Department philosophy is framed in line with University philosophy as mentioned above.

MAJOR REVISIONS TO THE PROGRAMMES AFTER LAST ACCREDITATION VISIT. 

After the accreditation visit last time, lot of improvements and revisions have been made in teaching learning process.



Incorporating MILA, CBCS and Flipped Video learning process for students’ knowledge enhancement. Submission of project star is another milestone. The student learns the correct way of doing projects with quality.



Journal publications by students in reputed journals like Scopus reviewed and research gate further enhance the learning quality.



Student projects are periodically reviewed by expert reviewers from reputed institutions outside make the students learn the project process in high level.

MAJOR REVISIONS PLANNED FOR NEXT FIVE YEARS. 

Incorporating improvements in Centre of Excellence, Value based certificate courses for students and faculties, value added programmes for updating student’s knowledge periodically.



Major

Automation,

Robotics

and

Mechatronics is planned to be started to expose the students in other relevant fields mentioned. 

Plan to have many Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with leading industries and institutions in and around the city.



It is also proposed to begin Entrepreneurship Cell by the department.
