Virtual Server Solution

Hi This is santosh Dharamsale Network administrator from eRetail Cybertech Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad. We are into Retail software and ERP solution providers. We have our own products for supermarket, hypermarket, Chain-stores, warehouse management and Food and beverage segments. We have our product installed across India and oversee.

As a network admin I have to look after complete network, security and patch management with this I have to provide hardware resource to testing and support department to test our applications, to provide the system I have to get PC and configure OS/Application and handover to respective department, so it very time taking process for me due to this I have to seat late light to install and configure the system. Next day again new requirement and same time taking process due to this am unable to look my network and security issues. Then I installed VMware and tried to implement in test base environment and I am able to run through it and when I speak to my management regarding VMware they are happy with solution but unhappy with investments due to that again I am back to old status. Then I heard about MS Virtual server and tried but again then configured. When I update to my management regarding this solution my BOSS is very happy to see the solution. Due to this 1. We have cut down the investment on testing PC’s 2. Now I can configure any OS with any minimum to Max configuration due to this my testing team can check our application in any condition 3. Within a 10 to 20 mints I can configure new Virtual PC, but when previous my boss ask to setup testing environment I use to say boss I need time but now just within a hour I can configure 2 to 3 virtual systems. 4. And I no need to spend time to configure application or OS just I will create copy of the existing virtual PC and get ready for work. To a small and medium organization it’s a cost control tool, I am very happy with this tool and even to my client I suggest to configure MS VP(if its small requirement) or go for MS virtual server.

Company Introduction eRetail Cybertech Pvt Ltd is retail software and ERP solution provider, we have product it run Supermarket, hypermarket, Chain-stores, warehouse management and Food & beverage outlets. We have our installation across India and in overseas. We will provide solution to client if their network is down then also our application will work (Master/Slave technology) and server/client technologies, due to this we have to take care every single transaction from client to server and end of the day it has to synchronize across all servers. Due to this before implementing our product we have to test the application in all conditions.

Issue made me to go with virtualization 1. At client end our application runs in Win98 OS to in Vista OS and Minimum system configuration to recommended system configuration. Due to different flavor of OS we have to test our application before roll out or before implantations 2. Time limitation, More work load and increasing hardware requirements 3. To configure single system I have to spend 2 to 3 house or last night to just OS/application configuration, if I am going with image then configuration issue with different type of flavor configuration. 4. Support and testing team will wait for systems.

Towards virtualization my first step 1. Then I heard about virtualization when I searched on net I found VMware, I gone through it and tested with my requirement but when I shown to my management they are happy with solution but unhappy with investment for implementation. Final step to Microsoft Virtual server

1. Then again I searched and waited for some time then one day I found in Microsoft website Virtual Server and downloaded and tested with my requirement 2. When I demonstrated to Boss this solution he Is very happy. 3. Using MS Virtual server our testing team will test our products with all condition & flavors of OS. 4. Within 10 to 20 minutes I will configure Virtual PC and if existing Virtual PC I can connect just in minutes. 5. If any new requirement previously I use to get before one day but know evening I will get the requirement and morning it will ready for action. And I no need to seat at last night’s.
