THE COMPANY THAT DOESN’T DO THE BUSINESS ETHICS

PT. KENTDEVON PT. Kentdevon is a company owned by Van Miller a man from England which engaged in online marketing. This company is located at Ngabul, Tahunan, Jepara has been doing a lot of violations in business ethics since the past years. Those violations are : -

Didn’t pay the salary for the employees Late in giving the salaries Doesn’t give a health insurance to the employees Doesn’t give the basic salary and bonus for the employees for eid Often laid off the employees unilaterally Disturbing the society Took others company signpost and make it as it was theirs

The explanations of those violations : In 2017 there were hundred employees of PT. Kentdevon who went on strike (mogok kerja). This strike action was a form of a protest against the company that hasn’t paid the employee’s salaries for the past weeks. Besides the unpaid salary, the salaries given were also often late in these 4 months. Besides demanding for the unpaid salaries, the employees also demanded that this company provide a health insurance for workers. This company didn’t give any basic salary and bonus for the employees for the eid (hari raya). This company also often lay off employees unilaterally. The employee has reported to Dinas koperasi usaha kecil dan menengah nakertrans Jepara regarding this issue. The department delegation had also visited the company It's just that, the department has difficulty meeting the owner but meanwhile the company’s management here cannot make decisions. Regarding to the disturbing the society, this company known for their spamming through the internet marketing. This action might lead to defamation for Indonesia because the world might known Indonesia as a spammer just because of this company spamming. The owner also only using a visit visa not a work visa so he can has a round-trip as he likes and as he wish. This company also using other’s company signpost as theirs.

Suggestion for the company :  The first advice is for the owner. The owner needs to change his visa from visit visa to work visa so the owner can’t has just a round-trip as he wants. Because if there’s a problem regarding his company it will be difficult to meet the owner. If the owner only does the round-trip it seems like the owner didn’t care about his company.  The advice for the company is to give more attention to their business ethics both to their employees themselves or to the surrounding society. The company need to make sure what they are doing will not cause any harm to their employees or the society especially that will cause a defamation for our own country.  Furthermore, they need to cope with the spamming issue. They need to restrict the number of the content that they will post for each day or each week so it will not seen as a spam.  For the salaries and the health insurance, the company should pay more attention into it considering the employees work for them, if there’s no employees who else will work and operate the company. Because if they don’t cope with the salaries and the health insurance issue as fast as they could, they might loss some workers there.
