ABSTRACT NTB has an electrical crisis seriously and there are some rice fields dependent on rain, therefore it is needed to discover some alternative energy, one of them is wind energy. This article explains the result of research on windmill with vertical shaft to generate home electricity. The windmill consist of two, three and four blades and the blade shape are circle, square, rectangular and ellipse. The blades area is 0.25 m2. The length of the windmill arm is 0.75 m. The height of the windmill tower is 6 m above the sea. The research location is in Sandik, Batulayar, Mataram. The research result shows that according to BMG, the wind velocity is 3 m/s, but in the research location, the wind velocity is 1.2 m/s until 1.33 m/s. The rotation of the windmill is 15.08 RPM until 16.35 RPM. The power of the wind and the shaft is 22.343 Watt and 6.7 Watt. The influence of the shape and the amount of the blades are not significant. Keyword: Wind energy, Windmills, Velocity, Rotation, and Power.
