"CAMPAIGN OFFICE"
United Nations Security Council Must Act 27 July 2009 Junta will deliver the verdict by saying Aung San Suu Kyi is found guilty while international community is falling asleep. Aung San Suu Kyi has been under house arrest for 14 of last 20 years. Junta’s shear brutality has reached epic perorations in senseless crimes against humanity by plotting the ploy to imprison Aung San Suu Kyi. Aung San Suu Kyi is charged and tried in the Insein prison relating to the swimmer incident which could end up at least 5 years imprisonment. UNSC must demand that Aung San Suu Kyi’s house arrest mustn’t be in any case extended and junta must avoid charging her relating to swimmer incident. This is junta’s cunning act to imprison Aung San Suu Kyi as their rigged 2010 election plan is drawing nearer in which they are setting up everything to win their backed party. Junta’s planned 2010 election is designed to legitimised military rule in Burma. If the international community truly wanted to see national reconciliation in Burma, they must find ways to facilitate the release of Aung San Suu Kyi immediately. If junta imprisons Aung San Suu Kyi or places her under house arrest again, it is tantamount to turning their back on dialogue and ultimately national reconciliation. Burma is in very critical state. The free and democratic world has a moral responsibility to intervene on behalf of humanity. We demand the United Nations Security Council for their support in achieving justice for Aung San Suu Kyi and the peaceful restoration of democracy in Burma. With a global community comes a global responsibility, the crisis in Burma falls well within the scope and responsibility if this international mutualisation. The people
of Burma call for UNSC support in putting to an end to Burma’s long standing crisis. We undersigned organizations call for the United Nations Security Council to send ultimate ultimatum to junta; 1. to release Aung San Suu Kyi along with thousand of political prisoners immediately and unconditionally 2. to do genuine time-bound dialogue 3. to review 2008 constitution 4. to recognize 1990 election result Or face the consequences of taking unprecedented actions by imposing universal economic sanctions, by imposing universal arms embargo and ultimately by applying R2P concepts to save Burma.
