COMPLEXITY
Knows and applies fundamental concepts, practices, procedures and existing policies and guidelines in specialized area of information technology. Tasks range from having some variation and difficulty to having moderate variation and difficulty.

ACCOUNTABILITY
Refers questions and problems to higher levels. Entry level positions work under immediate supervision and with detailed instructions. Work is often checked for accuracy. Equipment and Applications Specialist solves routine problems and the work is performed independently.
Information Technology Specialist II This role has a broad range of positions from analyst to senior level positions in the areas of Applications Programming/Analysis, Network Analysis, and IT Analysis and specialist level positions in Systems Engineering. Requires knowledge and some to substantial experience in the field. This role also contains a dual track for Equipment and Applications Senior and Expert levels. The first track is for positions that serve as a Consultant and provide technical advice to address problems encountered. The second track is for positions that have Lead level responsibilities to include instructing, directing and monitoring the work of staff. Requires knowledge and experience ranging from extensive to significant breadth and depth of experience in the function. Information Technology Specialist II Systems Engineering, Applications Programming Analysis, Network Analysis, IT Analysis, Database and Security COMPLEXITY
Work ranges from moderately complex and varied to working on multiple, complex projects independently. Background ranges from knowing and applying fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular function through possessing and applying a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of particular function to the completion of difficult assignments.

At the highest levels in this role provides guidance and training to less experienced staff. At the highest level, refers only the most complex problems to higher level staff.
Information Technology Specialist II Equipment and Applications Specialty
COMPLEXITY
Tasks include the range of activities from working on multiple, complex projects independently to functioning at a high level of technical variation and difficulty. Possesses and applies a broad range of expertise of principles, practices and procedures of particular function to the completion of difficult and complex assignments. The highest level positions in this role provide consultation and advice on major implementation ensuring services are not compromised and provide technical leadership on integration of various related systems. May perform any of the following: participate in development of strategic planning activities; review and analyze data to predict future needs and recommend enhancements; prepare budgeting and cost analysis; develop technical standards and policies; plan work of others to meet project deadlines; set priorities based on user needs.

Information Technology Specialist III This role contains dual tracks for Expert positions in the areas of Applications Programming/Analysis, Network Analysis, IT Analysis. The first track is as a technical Consultant. The second track has Lead level responsibilities for instructing, directing, and monitoring the work of staff. These tracks can lead to supervisory responsibilities. Requires knowledge and extensive experience in the function. Supervisory levels also require leadership experience in the function. The same dual track exists for the Senior and Expert in Systems engineering. Requires knowledge and substantial to extensive experience in systems engineering. Knows and applies concepts, practices and procedures of supervision and leadership. Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of particular function to the oversight of significant assignments. At the highest level in this role, prioritizes and assigns work to subordinate supervisors. Evaluates effectiveness of services provided and recommends changes in procedures to meet users’ needs.
RESULTS
Impacts the time, resources and quality of major projects. Work is monitored on the results of the unit. Impacts the delivery of improvements of services, staffing and resources.

Information Technology Specialist IV This role is for positions that range from the highest level technical expert in a specialized area such as systems
engineering, applications analysis, network analysis, and operating systems analysis, to supervisory level positions in systems engineering. Supervisory positions coordinate all activities of unit with multiple projects to meet project deadlines and budgets. They require knowledge and leadership experience in the functional area. Technical experts require comprehensive knowledge and extensive specialized experience. Information Technology Specialist IV COMPLEXITY
