Second Televised Mayoral Debate, August 28, 2001 MODERATOR: KAITY TONG, WB11 PANELISTS: JIM WATKINS, WB11; LES PAYNE, Newsday; BRIAN LEHRER, WNYC Radio CANDIDATES: PETER VALLONE, City Council Speaker; FERNANDO FERRER, Bronx Borough President; MARK GREEN, Public Advocate; ALAN HEVESI, City Controller; GEORGE SPITZ, Former NYC Auditor ALSO PRESENT: JOSEPH O'HARE, Chairman of the Campaign Finance Board [In response to a question directed to Alan Hevesi about his picking fights with Giuliani, and whether it was a political calculation by his campaign to go after a (then) unpopular incumbent. Green was the last candidate to respond to the question.] MS. TONG: Mr. Green. PUBLIC ADVOCATE MARK GREEN: Rudy Giuliani is not on the ballot. And it is essential now not to look back and spat with him, but focus on the future and what are our ideas to make this great City even greater. That's why I released 100 ideas for New York Century in the CD ROM I sent people. And if you want to let me hear that you want it by calling -- by e-mailing me at markgreen.com, you will get it. There are eight talks I've given on every large subject. People have a right to know not only my record, which they have over the years, but my vision for this City. That's the tie breaker. Ideas for a 311 dedicated line so 911 is not overloaded; we have one portal for all hotlines; a tech pipeline to train workers in the new economy; more housing rather than more stadiums. This campaign, if I have anything to do about it, is about the future, not yesterday.
