REFELECTION PAPER

3/26/19

CE412 – CE42FA3

The innovation is growing rapidly, technologies kept evolving, and knowledge is expanding before we know it. Our generations of civil engineering student will be called modern civil engineers after we graduated and pass the board exam because of the advanced materials that we can use at present time and to the future. But we need to study the traditional construction materials like timber. Significant study on this material can lead us to understanding on how strong and durable a timber can be. Understanding the physical and structural properties of common construction material helps us to become a better civil engineer in the near future. To a civil engineering student, the performance of materials in structures and their ability to resist various stresses are of prime importance. I’ve learned so much in this course, timber design. I’ve learned on how to apply the principles of timber truss design, recognize the options for timber-frame exterior wall systems, considering the basic joinery and connection methods and when to use them, and to determine how to design timber frames for fire resistance. I would like to thank Engr. Kathleen Tumampos for the knowledge that she shared to us, civil engineering student of timber design course. Thankyou ma’am for the memories that we shared together and hoping that someday that we see each other in the field and God Bless our journey in life.
