The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

By Eric Carle

In the light of the moon a little egg lay on a leaf.

One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and pop! Out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar.

I’m hungry!

He started to look for some food.

I’m still hungry!

On Monday he ate through one apple. But he was still hungry.

I’m still hungry!

On Tuesday he ate through two pears, but he was still hungry.

On Wednesday he ate through three plums, but he was still hungry. I’m still hungry!

I’m still hungry!

On Thursday he ate through four strawberries, but he was still hungry.

On Friday he ate through five oranges, but he was still hungry. I’m still hungry!

On Saturday he ate through….. I’m ill!

That night he had stomach-ache!

The next day was Sunday again. The caterpillar ate through one nice green leaf, and after that he felt much better.

Now he wasn’t hungry anymoreand he wasn’t a little caterpillar any more.

He was a big, fat caterpillar.

He built a small house, called a cocoon, around himself. He stayed inside for more than two weeks.

Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon, pushed his way out ………

He was a beautiful butterfly!

When he realized, he was just alone, he flew and flew until he saw some other butterflies.

“Hi, my name is Butty. May I join you, "said Butty. “Sure,” the yellow butterfly said.

“Wow, you got a nice color, Butty,” the orange butterfly commented. “That is because I’m the prettiest among us here, Butty answered.

All the butterflies then were silent. After a few minutes the butterflies told Butty that they need to go home.

All the butterflies then were silent. After a few minutes the butterflies told Butty that they need to go home.

Butty then was left alone. “I’ll go find another place were ugly butterflies stay,” mumbled Butty to himself.

“Hello there tiny butterfly, said Butty to the blue butterfly. “Uh…hi, timidly uttered blue butterfly.

“What if strong wind comes? For sure you will be carried away by it, ha ha ha ha,” Butty said while laughing out so loud.

“Look at me, I got a very sturdy wings aside from my very very beautiful wings,” he boasted.

“What does he think he is, said the other butterfly to the blue butterfly. “Let’s go. Let us leave him here all alone.”

“What does he think he is, said the other butterfly to the blue butterfly. “Let’s go. Let us leave him here all alone.”

“Hey! Why are you leaving, asked Butty. Don’t you want to play with me anymore? No one listened to Butty. After sometime, the sky became dark.

“Oh, I think it’s going to rain. Then, it the raindrops started to fall on Butty’s wings.

“Oh, I think it’s going to rain. Then, it the raindrops started to fall on Butty’s wings.

Butty could not get up for his wings were soaked with water because of the heavy rain. No one also helped him because all of the butterflies he met left Him alone.

MORAL LESSONS  When good thing happen to you, be thankful. Use it to inspire others not to brag and belittle others just to show them you are superior than them.  You can not live without others so treat them well.
