Highly Favored by God The angel Gabriel approached the virgin Mary one day and revealed that she would be the one to carry baby Jesus and be His earthly mother. For years Jewish women had looked for the coming of Christ. No doubt many wondered if they would be the one to bear Jesus. Yet Mary was chosen because as Luke 1:28 records, "thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women." Mary was favored among women. This doesn't mean she was better than others, but that she was a sincere, godly young woman. She lived a righteous life and obeyed her authority. She honored God with her life. God doesn't use people based on

their heritage, family name, or social status. He uses them based on their spiritual maturity. Mary, though she was young, was able to be used by God because she had followed Him, lived by His commands, and kept herself pure. If you desire for God to use you, look at Mary's life as an example of a spiritually usable person. She wasn't perfect, and I'm sure she made mistakes, but she sought to live righteously each day. She was a humble, godly woman. Right now God is looking for men and women He can use to accomplish His will. His requirements are few: saved, s u rr en d er ed , a n d s p i r i tu a l l y growing. He doesn't ask for perfection, but is looking for sanctification.

Our Midweek Bible Study is a great opportunity to increase your knowledge of God’s Word. This Wednesday we will begin a new study in the book of James. Bring your Bible and pen as we journey verse-by-verse through this New Testament epistle.

Wednesday PM: Mrs. Fisher

Where Will I Spend Eternity? Your relationship to Jesus Christ is central to the answer to that question. Our Dilemma: We are, by nature, sinners who stand guilty and condemned before our Creator and Judge. In our thoughts and actions, we have disobeyed His perfect standards. We are sinners (Romans 3:10, 23). Our Inability: We are helpless to save ourselves. Forgiveness is a gift to be received, not a reward that can be earned. We need a Saviour (Ephesians 2:8-9). Our Saviour: Because of His love for us, God provided salvation through His Son, Jesus. He became a member of the human family, lived without sin, and died on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus is the Saviour (Romans 5:8; John 3:16). Our Response: Salvation is an individual matter and requires a personal response on the part of anyone that wants to be saved. All who acknowledge their sin and place their trust in Christ are adopted as God’s children (Romans 10:9, 13).

Please show respect by turning off all electronic devices (PDA’s, cell phones) and refrain from text messaging during the church services.
