The Manisis Chronicles © 2002 Chapter Two
Creating The New World As you may imagine, I found it very difficult to sleep that night after my interview with Dr. Claymore. My brain teemed with questions and with visions of my future. Finally when sleep did quiet my conscious thinking, dreams of the most fantastic nature took its place. I found myself in a position of great authority and responsibility, but no one paid any attention to me. The more vehement became my protestations the more I was ignored. It was most frustrating. Finally out of nowhere the Queen of Hearts appeared and ran around yelling, "Off with their heads, off with their heads." Somehow it seemed like a very rational idea under the circumstances and I was looking for the Lord High Executioner when the alarm went off and I begrudgingly opened my eyes to a new day. Since this was Saturday and no school, I spent my time with my nose in the books of the Philosophy that Priscilla had loaned me. I was decided that I had better make myself as knowledgeable as possible to be able to appreciate what Dr. Claymore might disclose to me that afternoon. Also I wanted to format some questions that I could ask him if he were receptive. After all with the difference in our ages, what he may think is important may not have the same importance to my future and me. It was all right for him to want to protect the Philosophy and humanity in the future but I had to think of myself as well. As requested I was at the door of his hotel suite about five minutes before the appointed time and gave his door the agreed-upon three raps. Unlike the day before, he quickly opened the door and ushered me in. As l learned later, I was his only appointment that day and so the previous waiting period was unnecessary. "Sit down young man," he said as he motioned me to a not too comfortable chair, "And did you sleep well last night?" Before I had a chance to answer and tell him of my rather chaotic night, he continued in his usual abrupt but dignified manner, "Now, do you have any questions before we begin?" Thinking that he was not about to give me this chance again, I blurted, "Well, yes. I do have one." "All right. Well, out with it." Rapidly composing my wits, I replied, "The main question I can imagine others asking me if I was to pass this teaching of the Philosophy on to future generations would be, ‘Why is a new Avatar needed at this time? Are not the teachings of the man from Nazareth all we need?'" "Now that is good logical question," replied Dr. Claymore, "And a good answer may just take up all our time for today. So let us begin." His words set me at ease. I had feared that he would want to teach me things I had little background to understand or appreciate. I was very pleased to see that he was allowing me to choose what we would talk about. It was only later that I discovered that this was what he was planning to discuss that day, even if I had not asked my question. As I later came to realize, no matter what I asked, he always imparted only the information and guidance he wanted to give me.
Suddenly, I realized that he was talking again and I had to leave my reverie. "There are two main reasons for a new spiritual teaching at this time. One basically for America and the other for the entire human race. You should become well versed in the background for both of these reasons as this knowledge will give you the ability to answer the questions of those who may look to you for help in the next century. "As I intimated yesterday, America is a special country. One that was prophesied to be established many centuries ago. In the spiritual sense it is to be man"s last hope of creating the desired Heaven on Earth. "If we look to history, we discover that intelligently conscious man has existed on this Earth for many thousands of years. Some of these civilizations we know from antiquities left behind, but several of them we know about only from myth and fable. This later fact does not make them any less factual though. Each of these great civilizations was the ‘ruler of the world' at one time and had the opportunity to create the prophesied Heaven on Earth. Some came close, but all failed in the end due to various factors. The most common of which were, placing self interest above integrity, sexual perversions, and the intermarriage with races or nations of lesser development." "Do you mean civilizations like Atlantis?" I queried. "Yes, Atlantis, Lemuria, the Mayans, Aztecs and so forth. Lemuria was the first since it was the heyday of the Black race. Then came Atlantis, the apex of the Red race. This was followed by China, still the haven of the yellow race." "And now," I asked, "is this the time of the white race?" "Yes, but I am getting ahead of my self and I don't want to appear prejudiced. To comprehend where we are in the history of the world, you need to understand the nature of the races and the reason for America." "But," interrupting again, I asked, "If Atlantis and Lemuria, the original homes of the Red and Black races are no more because they failed their responsibility, why does China, the home of the Yellow race still exist?" "My young man," replied Dr. Claymore obviously annoyed, "how can I finish anything if you keep interrupting? Atlantis and Lemuria sank because their sins set into motion a reaction that was extremely severe. China on the other hand is a newer nation but if she continues on her present course may, along with Japan, suffer the same fate." I started to open my mouth, but before I could get a word out, Dr. Claymore continued as if reading my mind. "Now, before Lemuria sank, some of its inhabitants migrated to what we now call Africa, just as some of the Atlanteans emigrated to the Central and South American mainland. Others of the Atlanteans of course traveled to Egypt and established this civilization and with their great skills were able to construct monuments that still baffle modern man. "Each race was evolved at a time when its skin was most adapted to the cooling of the Earth. First the Black when the extra melanin was needed for protection. Then the Red as the Earth cooled more, to be followed by the Yellow. Finally as the Earth assumed its present temperature the White and last race began to appear. Again as I opened my mouth he stopped me and went on, "I know you want to ask why we still have all the different races on the Earth if their time of greatness has past? These are
all necessary to allow the functioning Celestial Law to place reincarnating souls into the bodies that may best help their future development. But, no questions on this subject now. We will discuss this in detail when we deal with the nature of reincarnation and the afterlife." My brain was already reeling and so I was somewhat pleased that Dr. Claymore was not going to discuss reincarnation at this time, but I did look forward to his dissertation on this fascinating subject. "Now as far as the white race is concerned," continued the good doctor, "we have many flavors. We have Germans, Italians, Frenchmen, Spanish, Portuguese, Englishmen, Irish, Russians, Dutch, etc, etc. The interesting fact is that each of these varieties has good points and some not so good. At one time or other almost each of these had their turn as the most dominate force in the world, but as before each fell short of accomplishing the temporal result desired by the Celestial forces. The interplay of these nations has been such that while their sins have not yet been sufficiently powerful to remove them from the Earth, neither have they shown sufficient promise to expect better things from them in the future. "It is at this point that America comes onto the scene. This was a continent unknown to all in the Old World except to Masters of the Philosophy. Prior to its ‘discovery' by those from Europe, it was sparsely populated by those of the Red race, mainly expatriates from the sunken Atlantis. As the Europeans began to occupy this New World they rapidly discharged or enslaved the original inhabitants. A rather universal custom at that time. "As the colonization increased this new land began to take on a sort of demeanor. Since many of the new inhabitants had left Europe to escape various forms of tyranny they were not about to accept it in their new homeland. The majority of the populous was from England at that time and since England was considered to have a relatively fair government (the Magna Carta and all that) this rebellious nature was held in check for a long time. Finally the American citizens began to be taxed by an English government that needed funds. Since the Americans had no representative in the English government, they did not take kindly to this ‘taxation without representation.' "While this tax was small when compared with those imposed on the American people today, it was used by members of the Philosophy to incite the settlers to rebellion. Many of the Founding Fathers were well aware of the ancient prophesies regarding America and took it upon themselves to use this opportunity to help create the land that was to be the home of the Biblical Heaven on Earth." "You mean that George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Payne, Thomas Jefferson and others were all members of the Philosophy? I asked. "Oh, yes and many more too," replied Dr. Claymore, "these men knew that they were destined to create a home for the best and most spiritual of the Old World. Since, up to now, all races and all nations have been tried and found wanting. The Celestial forces had decreed that mankind should have one more, one last, chance to ‘make Earth as it is in Heaven.' Their plan was to create a new nation with a Constitution patterned after the Celestial Laws in which the most spiritual and advanced of individuals from all the nations of the world could congregate and flourish. This was done and soon this great plan will have its final test." "I thought that we were to be a nation that accepted all the ‘huddled masses.' I exclaimed, "Your description or our nation's purpose sounds somewhat elitist."
Obviously irritated at my statement Dr. Claymore rejoined, "Your thinking has been misdirected by an already perverted school system. Do you have a one dollar bill on you." Thinking that he was going to fine me for my inopportune statement, I hesitantly replied in the affirmative. "Well take in out and look at it," he commanded. I did as he directed, and stared into the face of George Washington. "No, no," he directed, "turn it over, turn it over." This I did. "Now do you see the two sides of the Great Seal of the United States." I assured him I did. "What does it say on the front side of the Seal?" "Which side is that," I queried. Becoming more and more upset with his new pupil, he replied, "The side with the eagle. They really don't teach you anything in school these days do they." Happy to dump the blame for my bumbling on the school system, I replied, "I guess they don't, and began to examine the "eagle' side of the Great Seal. "What is the inscription on it this side of the Seal." "E Pluribus Unum," I replied in weak voice. "Do you know what that means?" "I'm not sure," I cautiously rejoined. "It means ‘out of many, one.'" "But isn't that what I said," I retorted, "We take from all the nations of the world those who want to come here." I could see that Dr. Claymore was trying hard to control his exasperation with me. He was probably thinking that maybe once again his patience was nearing the point of becoming a sin. Realigning his argument, Dr. Claymore said, "This is the impression that was given to the world openly, but it is not what those Founding Fathers who were knowledgeable in the Philosophy had in mind. If you will look at the other side of the Seal. That is the obverse or back side, you will see the true purpose of America." I examined the dollar bill further and while, like most Americans, I had observed this "back side of the Seal" many time, I never really gave any though to what it meant. "What do you see there," asked he? "I see a pyramid, with an eye on top and two inscriptions." "To be exact," he corrected, "the eye is not on top of the pyramid but floats above it right?" Again, I replied in the affirmative.
"The eye is that of the supreme Celestial power and while it overshadows America, it will not become a part of the pyramid and therefore the true heart and soul of the American people until the final battle is won." While I was not really certain just what he was talking about, I had learned my lesson and decided for the time being to let him go on without further interruption. "Now," he asked, "do you know what the inscriptions mean?" Playing dumb, which seemed the most expedient course, I said, "I'm not really sure." "Well," he went on, "what do you think our nation's Founders meant by the motto, "Novus Ordo Seclorum?" I thought for a moment, and then with my meager knowledge of Latin replied, "A new select order." Dr Claymore laughed, and said, "Well, you have the intent correct since it was the desire of our Founders to invite only the best of the individuals from other nations to come and be a part of the American dream. However, your Latin is a little weak. the phrase is best translated as 'A New Order of the Centuries (or Ages).' From this it should be obvious that our Founders knew well the prophesied purpose of America as established by the Celestial forces. America was, and is, to be a nation of the select, that is, a nation of those who are best adapted to create the predicted earthly paradise." "Are we then to consider Americans the proverbial 'Chosen People?" I asked tremulously. "No, not as such," replied Dr. Claymore. "The 'Chosen People' are all those who obey the Celestial Laws; it does not matter where they reside. but under the auspices of the Celestial forces, America has been set aside as a nation that encourages immigration by all those who are willing to obey these Laws and want to become a part of the coming Golden Age." By this time I realized that my previous training regarding America and life in general had been sadly incomplete. I told Dr. Claymore this. For the first time, I saw his face soften and then he said with a slight smile, "Who knows Mr. Bruington you might just be the one after all." I wasn't quite sure to what he was refereeing but I wasn't about to ask him. I was just pleased that I had brought a smile to his face and let it go at that. "And," he finally continued, "what of the last motto on the Great Seal, ‘ANNUIT CŒPTIS?' This has been translated as Prosper Us in Our Daring. Most certainly this is an apt phrase for that upon which these men were about to embark. They knew that with a rabble bunch of untrained individuals they were about to take on the most powerful nation in the world at that time. But, they did it and they won. In a way ANNUIT CŒPTIS is as much a prayer as a statement and one which will be needed even more in the final battle." After having decided to refrain from asking questions the might irritate Dr. Claymore, I was doing my best to hold back my curiosity as to this "final battle." Finally, at this lull in the conversation, I felt brave enough to venture this mild query, "Is there any more you can tell me about this ‘final battle?'" To my surprise my new mentor smiled as if to impart the thought, "I never thought you would ask." "I gather," he said, " you have never heard of General Washington's Vision at Valley Forge?"
Rapidly gaining an education in deflecting blame I rejoined, "No, that seems to be another universal omission of the present school system." He smiled again. I'm sure my clumsy effort to excuse my own ignorance did not fool him, but he seemed to appreciate my quick wit in adapting to my new circumstances. "I think I have a copy here," he stated as he fumbled through the inner pockets of his suit jacket. After a few seconds of this effort he came up with an obviously well used folded paper. "Here," he went on, "read this while I go get a quick snack." He then handed me the folded paper and left the room. The folds in the paper were all very worn and I gingerly opened it so as to not tear something that he obviously thought much of to always have had it ready to show others. When the precious paper was opened this is what I read: The place was Valley Forge, in the cold and bitter winter of 1777. Washington's army had suffered several reverses and the situation was desperate. Food was scarce. The Continental Congress was not sending supplies or money. Some of the troops did not even have shoes to wear in the snow. Many soldiers were sick and dying from disease and exposure. Morale was at an all-time low and there was great agitation in the Colonies against continued effort to secure our freedom from England. Nevertheless, General Washington was determined to see the struggle through. These are the words of a firsthand observer, Anthony Sherman, who was there and describes the situation: "You doubtless heard the story of Washington's going to the thicket to pray. Well, it is not only true, but he used often to pray in secret for aid and comfort from God, the interposition of whose Divine Providence brought us safely through the darkest days of tribulation. "One day, I remember it well, when the chilly winds whistled through the leafless trees, though the sky was cloudless and the sun shown brightly, he remained in his quarters nearly all the afternoon alone. When he came out, I noticed that his face was a shade paler than usual. There seemed to be something on his mind of more than ordinary importance. Returning just after dusk, he dispatched an orderly to the quarters who was presently in attendance. After a preliminary conversation of about an hour, Washington, gazing upon his companion with that strange look of dignity which he alone commanded, related the event that occurred that day." Washington's Own Words "This afternoon, as I was sitting at this table engaged in preparing a dispatch, something seemed to disturb me. Looking up, I beheld standing opposite me a singularly beautiful female. So astonished was I, for I had given strict orders not to be disturbed, that it was some moments before I found language to inquire the cause of her presence. A second, a third and even a fourth time did I repeat my question, but received no answer from my mysterious visitor except a slight raising of her eyes. "By this time I felt strange sensations spreading through me. I would have risen but the riveted gaze of the being before me rendered volition impossible. I assayed once more to address her, but my tongue had become useless, as though it had become paralyzed.
"A new influence, mysterious, potent, irresistible, took possession of me. All I could do was to gaze steadily, vacantly at my unknown visitor. Gradually the surrounding atmosphere seemed as if it had become filled with sensations, and luminous. Everything about me seemed to rarefy, the mysterious visitor herself becoming more airy and yet more distinct to my sight than before. I now began to feel as one dying, or rather to experience the sensations which I have sometimes imagined accompany dissolution. I did not think, I did not reason, I did not move; all were alike impossible. I was only conscious of gazing fixedly, vacantly at my Companion. "Presently I heard a voice saying, ‘Son of the Republic, look and learn,' while at the same time my visitor extended her arm eastwardly. I now beheld a heavy white vapor at some distance rising fold upon fold. This gradually dissipated, and I looked upon a strange scene. Before me lay spread out in one vast plain all the countries of the world-Europe, Asia, Africa and America. I saw rolling and tossing between Europe and America the billows of the Atlantic, and between Asia and America lay the Pacific. "Oh ‘Son of the Republic,' said the same mysterious voice as before, ‘look and learn.' At that moment I beheld a dark, shadowy being, like an angel, standing, or rather floating in midair; between Europe and America. Dipping water out of the ocean in the hollow of each hand, he sprinkled some upon America with his right hand, while with his left hand he cast some on Europe. Immediately a cloud raised from these countries, and joined in mid-ocean. For a while it remained stationary, and then moved slowly westward, until it enveloped America in its murky folds. Sharp flashes of lightning gleamed through it at intervals, and I heard the smothered groans and cries of the American people. "A second time the angel dipped water from the ocean, and sprinkled it out as before. The dark cloud was then drawn back to the ocean, in whose heaving billows it sank from view. A third time I heard the mysterious voice saying, ‘Son of the Republic, look and learn,' I cast my eyes upon America and beheld villages and towns and cities springing up one after another until the whole land from the Atlantic to the Pacific was dotted with them. "Again, I heard the mysterious voice say, ‘Son of the Republic, the end of the century cometh, look and learn.' At this the dark shadowy angel turned his face southward, and from Africa I saw an ill-omened specter approach our land. It flitted slowly over every town and city of the latter. The inhabitants presently set themselves in battle array against each other. As I continued looking I saw a bright angel, on whose brow rested a crown of light, on which was traced the word ‘Union,' bearing the American flag which he placed between the divided nation, and said, ‘Remember ye are brethren.' Instantly, the inhabitants, casting from them their weapons became friends once more, and united around the National Standard. "And again I heard the mysterious voice saying, ‘Son of the Republic, look and learn.' At this the dark, shadowy angel placed a trumpet to his mouth, and blew three distinct blasts; and taking water from the ocean, he sprinkled it upon Europe, Asia and Africa. Then my eyes beheld a fearful scene: from each of these countries arose thick, black clouds that were soon joined into one. Throughout this mass there gleamed a dark red light by which I saw hordes of armed men, who, moving with the cloud, marched by land and sailed by sea to America. Our country was enveloped in this volume of cloud, and I saw these vast armies devastate the whole country and burn the villages, towns and cities that I beheld springing up. As my ears listened to the thundering of the cannon, clashing of swords, and the shouts
and cries of millions in mortal combat, I heard again the mysterious voice saying, ‘Son of the Republic, look and learn.' When the voice had ceased, the dark shadowy angel placed his trumpet once more to his mouth, and blew a long and fearful blast. "Instantly a light as of a thousand suns shone down from above me, and pierced and broke into fragments the dark cloud which enveloped America. At the same moment the angel upon whose head still shone the word ‘Union,' and who bore our national flag in one hand and a sword in the other, descended from the heavens attended by legions of white spirits. These immediately joined the inhabitants of America, who I perceived were well nigh overcome, but who immediately taking courage again, closed up their broken ranks and renewed the battle. "Again, amid the fearful noise of the conflict, I heard the mysterious voice saying, ‘Son of the Republic, look and learn.' As the voice ceased, the shadowy angel for the last time dipped water from the ocean and sprinkled it upon America. Instantly the dark cloud rolled back, together with the armies it had brought, leaving the inhabitants of the land victorious! "Then once more I beheld the villages, towns and cities springing up where I had seen them before, while the bright angel, planting the azure standard he had brought in the midst of them, cried with a loud voice: ‘While the stars remain, and the heavens send down dew upon the earth, so long shall the Union last.' And taking from his brow the crown on which blazoned the word ‘Union,' he placed it upon the National Standard while the people, kneeling down, said, ‘Amen.' "The scene instantly began to fade and dissolve, and I at last saw nothing but the rising, curling vapor I at first beheld. This also disappearing, I found myself once more gazing upon the mysterious visitor, who, in the same voice I had heard before, said, ‘Son of the Republic, what you have seen is thus interpreted: Three great perils will come upon the Republic. The most fearful is the third, but in this greatest conflict the whole world united shall not prevail against her. Let every child of the Republic learn to live for his God, his land and the Union.' With these words the vision vanished, and I started from my seat and felt that I had seen a vision wherein had been shown to me the birth, progress, and destiny of the United States." Thus ended General George Washington's vision and prophecy for the United States of America as told in his own words. After the first reading, I stopped to think for a while and then reread the paper. I then carefully refolded that Vision as well as I could and awaited Dr. Claymore's return. He returned shortly after I had completed reading the Vision and with a wipe of his mouth on his handkerchief he asked, "Do you still have any questions about the ‘final battle'"? "Just one for now, when is it likely to take place?" "Ah, as Shakespeare said, there's the rub," he exclaimed, "I first thought that it would come during my present incarnation but now I realize that this is not to be so. It is of course because of this belief that you are here. The teachings of Manisis need to be made public at the beginning of the third phase of Washington's vision. I only trust that you or one of the other young students I have selected will be alive and able to accomplish the task."
"Do you have any idea of just when in years that the final battle may begin," I meekly asked. "I still think it should be before the end of this century but the way things are going it may not be until the beginning of the next." "I only hope that I will live that long," I said. "I only trust that one of you will," and then he added, "by the way try not to use the word hope in such context. Hope means you have doubts and sets into motion negative vibrations. Use the word ‘trust' instead. It has much more positive force." I thanked him for the suggestion, but was still attempting to make sense out all the many disclosures that had been made to me. My puzzlement must have shown because Dr. Claymore began to smile again and asked, "Have I lost you?" "I must admit," I replied, "you have given me much to consider but I still do not have a good grip on my question of why me and why Manisis at this time." The man in front of me looked serious for a moment and then smiled with a twinkle in his eye, "I guess I have been embroiled in the Philosophy so long (almost sixty years at that time) that I think everyone one understands what I do. Let me try to pull it all together for you. "America is a land where the best and most spiritual, that is those who are most likely to desire to follow the Celestial laws, are to congregate. All the other races and nations have failed in an effort to live up to these laws and thereby create the true Brotherhood of Man, the Heaven on Earth. In one last effort to give the human race a chance to fulfill its destiny by creating this Heavenly state on Earth, the Celestial forces have helped to create E Pluribus Unum, One nation with the best of all the other nations. A Cr'me de la Cr'me of nations. A jewel amongst the paste." He paused for a moment, not so much to give him a break but more likely to let my brain catch up to meaning. "This was done by our Founding Fathers with the aid of the Celestial forces. Remember, nothing of such propensity for good is ever accomplished without their help. They were with Napoleon as long as he wanted to establish a republican union of the warring states in Europe, but as soon as he decided to return to the human pattern by making himself Emperor, they quickly deserted him and he fell into disgrace. "This was the first trial in Washington's Vision. The second, of course was the Civil War. Do you know that Abraham Lincoln was a distinguished member of the Philosophy?" "Yes, Mrs. Patterson had told me that," I replied. "Good for her," he exclaimed, and then continued, "The American Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights was almost purely from the Celestial forces. As you will find when we get to the teachings of Manisis, in America every man and woman is to have the same rights as everyone else. They are to be allowed to exercise their free will as long as the exercise of this free will does not interfere with the free will of others. No American has the right to tell another what he can or cannot do, unless his actions are obviously injurious to others. In that case he should feel the full weight of the law. Only in this way can free society be maintained."
While I said nothing, I was thinking, "Why is he going on so about American freedoms. We have them and I trust (see I learn) that we will always have them." "Although, America had many ups and downs during its formative years, it still held firmly to its Celestial given freedoms. It has not been so in this century (the twentieth) however. I was a young man when this century began and so have been a personal witness to the eroding of our freedoms and the perversion of our American ideals. Perhaps the most damaging of all was the abandonment of the George Washington's admonition to have ‘trade with all nations but alliances with none.' America was created to separate ourselves from the age old decadency of the Old World. When we seek alliances with any of them we only dump ourselves back into the boiling pot of Old World intrigue that we labored so long to escape. "But this is not the worst of the matter. Our leaders became influenced by the siren voices of the financiers of the Old World as well and played into their hands by beginning a taxation pattern that would steal from the pockets of our hard working Americans and give to the dregs of society here and abroad. Thus, ignoring the Biblical dictum that only the ‘laborer is worthy of his hire.'" As he stopped to catch his breath I ventured a question, "Do you mean the income tax?" "Yes, mainly, but they have so compounded the various taxes on Americans that a good half of a man's earnings now go to these thieves to use as they and they alone determine." (As I write this chapter, I am reminded that a man recently spent over $68 million dollars of his own money to become mayor of our largest city. May we not question if this is pure dedication to the office or some interest more personal.) "But," I queried, becoming a little more bold again, "Is not much of these taxes set aside for the security of the our people?" "That at least is the pretext," replied Dr. Claymore, "Have you not heard the admonition, ‘He who is willing to give up freedom for security, will soon have neither.'" "No I have not, but I will remember it now." He went on, "Perhaps the greatest harm done by the insidious acceptance of the Old World ways in our country is what it has done to the integrity of those in authority and the growth in cynicism of the general public. As Manisis has said, "‘In America today our citizens prey upon one another like animals in the jungle and not like creations of the Celestial forces.' "The representatives of the people use their offices to enrich themselves and the those who support them for reelection, businesses tend to think only of the bottom line even if citizens are killed or injured by defective products, in the professions, doctors, lawyers and others too often use their skills to enrich their pocketbooks rather then the address the real needs of their clients. "The unkindest cut of all is that Americans have come to accept this and expect no better. This is the same attitude that has brought about the final decay and fall of every great nation before us. "On this level, this is the situation that Manisis has come to correct to that America can fulfill its destiny. This is why his teachings are important at this time and essential once the final battle commences.
"For some time the Celestial forces have allowed those alien to the American spirit to come into our nation. Consider the Scriptural story of the wheat and the tares: "Another parable put he forth unto them, saying. The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: "But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. "But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. "So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in they field? From whence then hath it tares? "He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares ye root up also the wheat with them. "Let both grow together until the harvest; and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.[Matthew 13:24-30] The husbandman was told to let both grow together until they were mature. It would then be possible to weed out the tares without destroying the wheat. This is the process that is now being gradually implemented. America is now a country with some fine wheat but a great deal of tares. Some of both are mature and being harvested or weeded out respectively, but the time of the wholesale harvesting and weeding will not come in my time, but should come in yours." Many thoughts raced through my mind: Was I born too soon or too late? Is it all that great to be born just in time to participate personally in the final battle. The well-known Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times" kept running through my brain. "Then the final battle will relieve America of many of those who are not in harmony with its original concepts as ordained by the Celestial forces?" I queried. "Exactly," replied Dr. Claymore. "And there was no more gentle way," I asked hopefully. "We all certainly tried. Manisis did, and those of us who were his first disciples did all we could, but the allure of temporal pleasure for its own sake and the hope of something for nothing was just too great. The American people, that is those who are truly American, will have to learn by suffering and sorrow. Only these two sovereign teaching tools of the Celestial forces will have the power to open their eyes to the truth." "And then," I cautiously asked. "Ah, that will be a time to see. It is prophesied that the remnant of people left will be filled with a righteous fire by the Celestial forces and will then make right all the wrongs that have been perpetrated on them for so long. At this time the floating eye on the obverse side of the Great Seal will be able to descend onto the pyramid, and America will be prepared to enjoy a thousand or more years of peace. All this of course following the period of Reconstruction." "Reconstruction?" "Well, you must remember Washington's words. First the cities, towns and villages are to be destroyed and ‘Then once more I beheld the villages, towns and cities springing up
where I had seen them before.' This is the period of Reconstruction. I would plan to be back by this time so that I can be of service to all Americans during this time." "And me," I asked very hesitantly. "Oh, I would think that you will be gone by this time. But, look at the bright side, if you survive the final battle you will be old and tired, as I am now, and I would not be surprised if you would look forward to a good long rest." Somehow to a youth of seventeen years this thought did not bring much solace to my soul, but then I surmised that he might be right and at the proper time a long rest from Earthly obligation might seem attractive. Apparently, observing the lack of appreciation for his comments in my face he added, "Look at it this way, the Reconstruction is going to be a lengthy period of hard work but that will be necessary to create a new and far more beautiful America. After you have had your Celestial ‘rest' you will be able to be born into the new America while I and my generation of members of the Philosophy will have to suffer all the drudgery of the Reconstruction." I could see that he was trying to put the best possible face on my possible future prospects, and so, with several score years ahead of me I did not push the issue further. I did have one last question on this subject however. In reality not a question so much as a recapping comment. "As I understand you," I began in my most dignified voice, "As I see it, Manisis has come to let Americans know that they have been hoodwinked during this century, will be invaded and many destroyed in the foreseeable future, will then be filled by the Celestial forces with righteous anger at their oppressors by the Celestial forces and will, start a second American Revolution that will finally bring into reality the Brotherhood of Man and create a Heaven on Earth. Is that correct?" The good doctor looked at me with a strange smile that would have made the Mona Lisa proud and said, "Yes." "And if I understand you right," I continued, "The best time to spread these Manisis teachings is after the first stages of the final battle?" Again Dr. Claymore replied, "Yes, but don't forget the battle will be going on slowly for some time before that. The ideal time for you to bring the Manisis teachings to light will be after the first real attack on continental American soil. It will take such an attack to make Americans listen to these teachings." "Do you really think they will listen then?" "They will if you make the presentation good enough. Don't worry we will give you all the information and training you need to do the work. At best you will only be able to reach a small number, but any new wheat you can add is all to the good during the final battle. It may well be that few will believe until the full battle is waging, but then they will remember the teachings and this will aid both them and future of America." I had little more to ask. I was probably worrying unnecessarily. The chances of all this happening seemed slim and the chance of my involvement even slimmer.
"Well," said Dr. Claymore, "I think that is about all for today. I had trusted that we would be able to discuss both of the reasons for Manisis but I see that our time has run out. How early do you rise Mr. Bruington?" By nature I have never been an early riser, so I fudged a bit to impress Dr. Claymore and replied, "Oh, about eight o'clock." "That late," responded the good doctor, "Well I need to leave for home early tomorrow afternoon, but I did want to finish our Manisis session before I go. Can you be here at 9 am sharp?" "I'll be here," I blurted, not remembering that the next day was Sunday, a day I really slept in. Oh, well I guess we all have to make sacrifices sometimes. We shook hands and parted. My brain was still reeling, attempting to compute all that has been said that afternoon.
