THE BIG TODAY

PHOTOGRAPHY OF PHIL LECONTE 2000-2008

PHOTOGRAPHER AND JAKE - 2006 This collection is dedicated with love and affection to Jake, who, with few exceptions, was standing just out of frame in all these photos. Once, at my side; now and forever in my heart. Phil LeConte October 2008

Phil LeConte After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1984 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, Phil LeConte moved to Los Angeles, where he worked in network television for three years. During his time in Hollywood, Phil worked for Dick Clark Productions and several series including Hunter, 21 Jumpstreet, and Wiseguy. He was also represented by the William Morris Agency as a screenwriter. In 1988, Phil moved to Austin Texas, where he oversaw the creation of the Texas Highway Patrol Association. Aside from his work with the public safety education, Phil is also a writer. His course on public safety and citizenship is taught in schools across the America, including the Austin ISD. His article, “The Psychologist as TV Guide,” was published in Psychology Today magazine, has been cited in various professional journals, as well as in the textbook Values and Knowledge by Terrance Brown. Phil has interviewed and profiled a range of creative artists and public figures, including Roy Scheider, Sally Fields, Dennis Franz, Chief Daryl Gates, director Robert Benton, Texas Attorney General Dan Morales, future Governor of Texas, Rick Perry and journalist Bill Moyers — who considered Phil's subsequent profile to be “my favorite interview I did on that tour.” Phil's photography has been auctioned at benefits for such organizations as The American Cancer Society and The Austin Museum of Art. His photography was used on the cover of the Texas Alzheimer’s Association’s annual publication.
