Dependence test of selection decisions for research project applications in Slovenia in 2007/20

Method of evaluation of research project applications in Slovenia is defined in: Metodologija ocenjevanja prijav za mentorje mladim razis Research (alternative) hypothesis: there is positive association between the sums of scores of research team leaders and peer review de

Null hypothesis H0: there is no positive association (one-sided test). Level of significance: α=0,05. Fisher's exact test was calculated with statistical package available on http://www.langsrud.com/fisher.htm . Note: in few cases of different value from Fisher and Kullback test, the value of Fisher is taken. Note: in few cases of different values for different binning the value in favour for rejection is taken. Note: Research subfields are defined in http://www.arrs.gov.si/en/gradivo/sifranti/sif-vpp.asp .

Note: Research project applications are arranged in descending order regarding the sum of scores A. Result of peer review selection: from 711 research project applications in all 6 fields or 72 subfields 187 projects were selected. Result of statistical analysis: in 15 subfields (21%) with 270 project applications (38%) null hypothesis of no positive association can be s Conclusion: result shows significant progress in evaluation procedure from previous years if we swear on bibliometric and scientometric
