Term limits: It comes down to the undecideds The City Council is poised to vote on a controversial bill that will extend term limits for public office holders from two four-year terms to three, effectively allowing Mayor Michael Bloomberg and dozens of Council members to run for office again when their terms are up in November 2009. Opponents of the bill say such a decision should only be made by the voters in a public referendum. In order for bill to pass, a majority, or 26, of the 51 Council members need to vote in favor of the bill.
