Target to Close Garland Store; Offer Jobs at Other Area Targets MINNEAPOLIS (July 7, 2009) –Target today announced that it will close its Garland store at 1122 W. Centerville Rd. at the end of business on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009. The store opened in August 1969 and is being closed after careful consideration of the longterm financial viability of this specific location, particularly in light of the opening of a SuperTarget nearby at 1629 N. Town East Blvd. this October.
All 90 store team members are being offered the option to transfer to a nearby Target store or accept a severance package. At the end of October 2009, Target will operate 149 stores in Texas.
