Updates

Rescue Ministries Update! By Josh Iniguez Winter is slowly creeping to an end and it seems like a perfect time to give a quick word from the Rescue Ministry Team! As the Church, one of our roles is to meet the needs of our world. The Rescue Ministry Team is an opportunity for members of the Salvage Yard to actively engage in meeting those needs. Since our church’s early days, we have always focused on proclaiming the Gospel of Christ to our hurting world. The shape and form of our outreach changes depending on the leading of the Spirit, but the heart of our efforts is to introduce our world to its Savior. It is our desire as a community of believers to see the Church actively living out their faith for the sake of the Gospel. Our church has a number of different opportunities to get involved. Whether God is calling you to commit to a weekly, monthly or once a year ministry, there are numerous opportunities for you to get involved in the Rescue Ministry Team. Current Ministry opportunities: The Jesus Kitchen – Meets every Saturday Night to meet the needs of the people on the West Bank across from Hard Times Café. For more information on how to get involved with the Jesus Kitchen contact Molly Waggoner at [email protected] The Rainbow Gathering – This once a year opportunity consists of a team that travels every summer to the Rainbow Gathering and meets the needs of the people who attend the gathering. Mardi Gras Ministry – This team travels to New Orleans each year to meet the needs of the people at Mardi Gras as well as serving the people of New Orleans by helping to bring restoration to people affected by Hurricane Katrina, and yes there is still more to be done!

Mardi Gras - Welcome back to those who went on the outreach to the people at Mardi Gras. Dave Andrews – The author of the book, Compassionate Community Work, will be speaking at the Salvage Yard on March 10th Resource List – Check out the new resource list on the Salvage Yard Website recommended books and websites under the headings Rescue, Restore, and Release. You will also find several links to resources for Bible study.

Prayer List

More! – There are more opportunities available in our neighborhoods, communities and cities than can be listed. If you feel led to get involved with some other area of ministry, feel free to contact Josh Iniguez for more information at [email protected]

Community Emergency Services The ministry that we would like to be a blessing to this month is Community Emergency Services. Community Emergency Services (CES) was conceived in the heart of God and birthed by His Spirit through Augustana Lutheran Church in 1971. CES is a non-profit crisis relief and empowerment ministry that first and foremost glorifies Jesus Christ and extends his love to those in the inner city of South Mpls. Located in Phillips Neighborhood, Community Emergency Service provides services to almost 20,000 people annually. Our clients largely consist of low-income households, single parent families, the elderly, mentally or emotionally handicapped persons, as well as recent immigrant groups. Through prayer support, direct aid relief, advocacy, referral and guidance, we seek to strengthen families and individuals. Our desire is to move them beyond the crisis to financial stability, emotional health, personal growth and spiritual strength. Ph# (612)870-1125 (TJ totally lifted this from the brochure.)
