Total Surface Area of Cylinder
Plane Flate, smooth Surface extended from all the sides is known as a plane .
AREA The area of a plane figure is the amount of surface enclosed by its sides. In this figure, the shaded portion shows its area.
Perimeter:-The perimeter of a plane figure is the length of its boundary. Perimeter of circle is known as circumference. Circumference of Circle=2* *r. Area of Circle= *r2.
Right Circular cylinder A tin can ,a road rollar, round pillars, cables, water pipes etc. are some of the objects from daily life which suggest or bring in our mind the concept of a right circular cylinder.
A Right Circular Cylinder has two plane ends. Each plane end is circular in shape.i.e.each is a circular region.Which are congruent and parallel to each other;called base of the cylinder. The line segment OO’ joining the centres if the two plane ends is called the axis of the cylinder,OO’ is the perpindicular is every line segment lying in each of these plane ends passing through O and O’ ,for this reason we name this solid figure Right Circular Cylinder.
Here In this Adjacent figure we have three plane figures. 1.Top Circular Region. 2.Curved Rectangular Region. 3.Bottom Circular Region
Q.-Here what is the perimeter / circumference of a circle? Ans:- 2r. Q:- what is the area of circle? Ans:- r2
Q:-What is the length of the curved region (rectangular)? Ans:- 2r. Q:- what is the breadth of this curved region(rectangular)? Ans:- h
Q:- what is the area of rectangular ? Ans:- Length * Breadth
Q:- What will be the area of curved region ? Ans:- 2r *h
Total surface area of a right circular cylinder =curved surface area + area of congruent bases =2rh +2*(r2 ) =2rh + 2r2 =2r (h + r)
