The NYS Bronx BETAC would like to invite you to our 2009 Study Group Series, beginning October 23, 2009.

Study Group C TITLE:

“Writing Sense: Integrated Reading and Writing Lessons For English Language Learners by Juli Kendall and Outey Khuon (2006)

DESCRIPTION:

Participants will have an opportunity to learn strategies in teaching English language learners in grades K-8 in integrating Reading and Writing lessons using Kendall and Khoun's book Writing Sense. As part of this study group participants will be able to engage in how these strategies will be useful in helping our English language learners with the writing sections of the ELA and the NYSESLAT.

AUDIENCE:

Bilingual, K-8 ESL and content area teachers responsible for developing the writing skills of English language learners in all content areas .

REGISTRATION: Each group is limited to 20 participants. Registration is on a first come basis. To register for this study group, send an e-mail with “Study Group C” in the subject line to [email protected]. Please include your name, school, title/position, grade and telephone number. Building and room numbers will be provided upon registration.

Books will be provided by the NYS Bronx BETAC.
