Ubl President and Chief Executive Officer AdvaMed 701 Pennsylvania Ave., NW Suite 800 Washington, DC 20004 Dear Steve, This is my formal notification that I am resigning from the AdvaMed Board of Directors effective immediately and that St. Jude Medical hereby withdraws from participation in the trade association. We strongly believe that the philosophy of an industry trade association should be to advocate on issues where consensus can be reached and to maintain neutrality where there is not agreement. The structure of the medical device fee under discussion by Congress is an area where there is strong dissent and conflicting opinions within the AdvaMed membership. As a large company, we are the minority within AdvaMed and we no longer feel that the trade organization can effectively represent our interests. We feel it is inappropriate for AdvaMed to advocate for a specific policy that economically advantages a portion of its membership at the expense of other members. For these philosophical objections, we feel that we must withdraw immediately our participation in and representation by AdvaMed. Sincerely,
