Sri Lanka – China Friendship Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall

Feb 1963 - The Chinese premier Chou En Lai visited Sri Lanka in an official tour in February 1963. During that visit, he promised an elegant exhibition and convention hall for Sri Lankans and the BMICH was the result of that offer.

Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama receiving Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Colombo, 12 September 2008, The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Yang Jiechi has reiterated China’s strong support for Sri Lanka’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unity. This pledge was made during the bilateral talks between him and his Sri Lankan c ounterpart, Rohitha Bogollagamaheld at the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, 10 September 2008.

Diplomatic recognition SL – PRC (1950) April 1952 - Historic Rubber-Rice Agreement. Politicall - Sri Lanka accepted the PRC's "One China" policy.
