Introduction In this survey research report, I will investigate the views of Tuskegee University students on spanking children. I surveyed 50 students on background information and on questions that revealed their beliefs about spanking. I asked questions about their childhood as it related to discipline, as well as their future plans on disciplining their children.
I. Hypothesis I believe that age, sex, and region (the independent variables) will affect the respondents’ responses (the dependent variables). The people from the South will have stronger experiences and feelings about discipline than those from other regions of the country. Also, males will be more likely to have been disciplined through strong force.
II. Rationale Southerners are more strict when it comes to discipline. III. Results Table 1 Age of Respondents Age

There were more respondents in the age group of 19-22. This group made up 45% of the sample. Also, there were more females surveyed than males. The percentage of females, 64%, almost doubled that of the males, 36%. More than half of the respondents were from the South (56%). The region with the next highest percentage was the North, which contributed 12%.

Survey Research Almost everyone surveyed thought that it was ok to spank children. I believe that this was due to the fact that most of us were spanked. Younger people see spankings as a way of discipline. Spankings are what we grew up around so that is all that some people know.
