Sounds of Equipments This spreadsheet provides estimations and/or default values of Sound Power and/or Sound Pressure Level for common industrial equipments (fans, compressors, pumps, turbines, etc). Sound Power Level (SWL) is defined as sound radiated from an equipment/a source which depends only on its operating parameters such as RPM, kW, etc. It does not depend on distance. While Sound Pressure Level (SPL) is defined as sound heard by a receptor from an equipment/a source at certain distance. So, SPL is correlated with SWL. At certain conditions, SPL may become noise (unwanted sound). This spreadsheet contains four sheets, started by this sheet 'Introduction' and sequentially followed by sheets 'Main Sheet', 'Data1', and at the end 'Data2'. 'Main Sheet' is where estimations of SWL and SPL are done. Default values are also provided in this sheet. Sheet 'Data 1' is for data required for estimating SWL of fans. While sheet 'Data 2' is data required for estimating SWL of casing of diesel and/or gas-driven engine and transformers. Need to remember!!!!!!! All estimated and default SPLs (not SWLs) are for uncontrolled sounds. SPLs estimated in this spreadsheet are only depended on distance (1 meter). They do not take into account control factors like barriers and other control efforts.
