Last May 15, 2004, typhoon "Dindo" destroyed many residential homes causing about P74.6 million in damages to crops and livestock in the whole province of Catanduanes. Many parts of the island province were devastated, house were torn apart, schools that are supposed to function as evacuation centers were also gravely damaged making the condition for the opening of the school year difficult for both teachers and students alike. The classrooms may not be ready for them soon but the classes will have to go on. As a group of concerned Catandunganons, we take it upon ourselves to help our "kababayans". However, inasmuch as we would like to help all of them, we cannot do this on our own. Thus, we need as much help as we can get. In this regard, we would like to ask assistance from each of you. We intend to raise funds for the kids in Gigmoto, Catanduanes where the typhoon's fury was felt the most. Three schools in this town were left with no roof while the others were also damaged. With the devastation of their livestock, many families were left with no alternative but to ask their kids to stop their schooling for the year. It is on this matter that we want to act. We intend to give the children school supplies and the schools a little help in the restoration of the classrooms to make it again a suitable place for learning.
