SLIDES FLIPS
&
TURNs
• Slides, flips, and turns are different ways that a geometric figure can move. These are all called transformations.
SLIDES • A slide or translation is when a figure is moved from one place to another. With a slide, the object never leaves the surface.
Here are a few examples SLIDE/TRANSLATION!
FLIPS! • A flip or reflection is when a figure is flipped to reflect the shape like a mirror.
Here are a few examples of FLIPS/REFLECTIONS
Notice the different positions of the black stars when the shape is flipped or reflected!
TURNS • A turn or rotation is when the figure is spun or rotated on an axis.
Here are a few examples of TURNS/ROTATIONS

• Congratulations! You’ve made it through a lesson of slides, flips, and turns. Keep practicing and go back through the lesson if need be and you’ll be a transformations pro!
