SIMPLY IDLE THOUGHTS (িিরঞি অলসয)

We seem to have aged in the last few years; particularly, our appearance seems to show the age more prominently than it did before. When I looked at Moavin’s picture with Saif I was taken aback. গলায় চামড়াগোলা লমা কোর শিকোয় আোে েেি পাহাড় বোয় ঝরণণা আোঝার ধাোর বইোোা এক সময়, এখি েোাোধারা িিঃোেষ হোয় আঁচড় েরোখ েগোে, সাকী িিোে, “আিম িিোয়িে, আমার িািয়ত পালি কোরিে, আিম চলিে মহাসাগোরর মহাসমাোরাোহ” ।Only a few years ago I visited him and his wonderful family – he looked handsome as he always did. I just saw his picture a few days ago in the production of Julius Caesar. His hair fluttering over his forehead, he could be the hero in any movie. I looked at the picture again and again. Each time I looked I felt the picture looked better – the shock reduced to reality. Earlier, I had told Saif I wanted to send a picture of mine, so that everybody could see me but I could not find a good looking picture. Yes, I have experienced a significant deterioration in my looks in the last 7 years or so. I met Moavin’s two sons, who were very courteous and took a full part in welcoming us in their home. They were doing well and working hard. Moavin worked from home occasionally and was able to give more time to the family. It was a well-knit, close, and happy family. Yasmin Bhabi liked researching with different recipes and went to great lengths to cook a very wide variety of dishes in spite of her new responsibilities on being promoted at work. And, Moavin cooked a dish as well, which was delicious too. Saif looked young, evergreen but for the bulge under his chest. If I sat across him in a train journey, his face would not imprint any image in my mind but probably, back at home, I would reflect, “Have I not seen him before?”. The more I saw the picture the more similarities I recalled. Intrinsically it was Mushfiq, there were many things behind the face, which talked to me and said, “Yes, yes I know I know him”. Yazdani েক মোি হ’ল েকািিিিই ওোক ভাল কোর েিিখিি । চার েোির েিবোো েিািিোকর চাপা উজল একটা পণবি েিায়ারা । সবাই পিরোাি হযাংলা িকন উৎিুল-িচোয । I have seen Fakhruddin, more correctly his picture after about 40 years. কিচ লাউএর ডগার মো, লমা, সবুে, সোোে, পাণবি বনুবর হািরোয় েগোে একটা িায়বি্ আিুোসোির ভাোর, পাহাড় পবণোোর আড়াোল মোিহয় উঁিক িিোে িূরাোির হাসযময় িিিাোির সূেণ । বার বার খুঁোে একটা পিরিচো আকৃিোর আভাষ োয়ার মো েভোষ উোে, েসটুকুরই িমল । িা, Fakhruddin হািরোয়োে আোিক িিি আোগ । েক েেি University েো েখলাধুলায় আোিক িাম ধাম, োারপর শিলাম sports column এ েলোখ, িক সব েরাডস, একিিি েিখলাম পাোেণরই একটা বাড়ীোো আোিক আোলা কোর একটা খুব িামকরা েলাোকর েমোয়র সোঙ িবোয় হোে একটা খুব ভাোলা েেোলর । আিিোসর কািি িিোয় বাড়ী েিরার এক রাোো আমার driver বোলা । একটা িীঘণ িিঃশাস োখোিা বা িেল, োারপর িিদাহীি রাতী । সকাোলও আোলাকবািো েিোখিে আিিস োবার পোি । আিম োখি ঢাকায় িেলাম ।
