Clues → Time expressions in present times and adverbs (e.g. everyday, today, every month, daily weekly, monthly, always, regularly, often, regularly, never rarely, sometimes)

Present Continuous Tense  





RULES!! Only for ongoing actions (in present time) Look for clues in the sentence like ‘now’, ‘is’, ‘are’, ‘today’, and anytime of the day (one whole day). Regularly used in conversational sentence ( to show ongoing actions) Clues → Time expressions (currently, presently, at the same time, now, simultaneously, at present)





Ongoing actions. E.g. The students are making tons of noise at the moment. Can also be used for two or more actions happening simultaneously in present time. E.g. The lecturer is invigilating the test while the students are concentrating to answer the papers.

Singular He She It Shane

is + V + ing

Plural They are + V + ing We Shane and Megan The Reinherts You

E.g.  He is looking for appropriate jobs.  She is eating the fried rice vigorously.  ‘It is killing me!’.

They / We are enjoying the sunset at Pantai Lido.  The Reinherts are driving to Boston for Hanukkah.  ‘You are wasting 

Brief Exercise   
