1. Write down all the custom settings you have memorized in your unit as they will be lost during the upgrade procedure. 2. Download

the

upgrade

files

from

Sherwood’s

web

site,

"http://www.sherwoodusa.com" } and unzip the files to a new directory on your computer. Click ‘Set up.exe’ in order to install the update program on your computer. 3. With the AC cord unplugged, set the OPR/SVC switch located on the rear panel to the SVC position.

4. Connect the AC cord between the receiver and the wall outlet. 5. Power on the receiver by pressing the Power button and check that the standby buttons shows an orange light. 6. Connect the receiver to computer with RS232 or USB cable. 1)

If you are using an RS232 Cable to upgrade, go to Step 8 below.

If this is your first time to upgrade via USB, you need to install the Sherwood USB driver in your

computer first. Driver installation is needed for the first trial only. For a detailed installation guide, refer to the help file in the upgrade application program. Click the Question mark on the top right corner of the program.

. Note: 3) If you are connecting via USB and have already installed the USB Drivers skip to Step 12.

7. Run the ‘Sherwood Receiver Firmware Upgrade program’.

(Note : program version may be updated without prior notice for better customer support) 8.

Click the ‘Port Setting’ button to set up the port.

Note:

The port setting is not needed when using a USB connection for the upgrade. Your computer

should automatically detect the USB connection and will show the following screen instead.

After

confirming this screen, go to step 12.

9. A Pop-up Window will appear as below. (Default : COM1/9600). Based on your actual computer, you may change the COM port setting but the baud rate must be 9600.

10. Click the ‘OK’ button. Then the computer will show the window as below.

11. Click the ‘File Open’ button in order to open BIN file.

Note:

(It is recommended to save the .BIN file in a specific folder. The default setting is C:\Program

files\Sherwood receiver)

12. Click the ‘Upgrade’ button to start the firmware update.

13. If you receive the message below it means the upgrade failed. In this case, you must power the receiver Off and then On (Rapidly) within 1 second for a reset. After the reset, click OK on the ERROR message and then click the ‘Upgrade’ button again.

Note : The ‘Device Restart’ message means something is wrong or failed in the above procedure. If you receive this message, check your cable or COM port. If the connection is good, turn the Newcastle unit Off and then On (Rapidly) within 1 second and click the Upgrade button again. (Procedure from step 13 above). 14. ‘Program Success!’ message means the update is complete.

15. Exit the update program.

16. Power off the receiver and set OPR/SVC switch on rear panel to the OPR position.

NOTE: The RESET process will completely erase the memory in this receiver. Be sure to write down your settings or know how to setup the receiver for each device connected. 17. Press the “Power” Button on the front panel of the receiver. With the receiver still in the “STANDBY” mode (Orange LED), hold the ‘ROOM2’ key and the ‘TONE MODE’ buttons simultaneously to re-set the microprocessor. Turn the receiver On by pressing the ‘STANDBY’ button. (Blue LED) 18. If the display reads ‘FM 87.5MHZ’ the re-set was completed successfully. If not repeat step 18. 19. Once you have finished the reset process you will need to program the settings according to the devices you have connected.
