Shame On Election Commission

Shame On Election Commission & Supreme Court Of India Election Commission has engaged thousands of teachers & employees of other departments on BLO (Booth Level Officer) duties from May 2008. Till June-2008 all employees were placed on full time duty. But in the month of July when schools opened after summer vacations, teachers were asked to join their school duties and asked to perform election work after their school hours and on their off-days. While employees of all other departments are working on full time basis(single duty), teachers are being forced to work after their school duty & on holidays(double duty). On refusing to perform double duty, teachers are being threatened & harassed by Gundas of election commission (Especially in AC-40).They say that as per order of Supreme court, teachers will perform other duties after their working hours & holidays. Will anyone answer our following queries: 1. If staff of Supreme Court perform any other duty after their working hours. 2. Do teachers have no personal life, as they are being forced to work after their school duty and on week offs? 3. Teachers residing in NCR areas have been engaged on BLO duty(which takes them minimum 2 hours to reach their work place),they leave their homes early in the morning(6 A.M. or earlier) to reach their school duties. Is it appropriate to ask a person (residing in distant areas) to attend the election office, when he reaches his home after school duty. 4. Teachers are provided only 10(Ten) Earned Leaves & no Medical Leaves per year (Whereas office staff gets 30 E.L. + Medical Leaves), so teachers wait for their summer vacations to perform their personal works. Is it right to waste their Summer Vacations in such useless works. 5. Election Commission’s officials say that this BLO duty is permanent duty and a person will have to work as BLO for all his service time. Why does Election Commission not recruit its own staff? Why does work of other departments suffer due to Election Commission? We (teachers) strongly condemn such partial (double duty) and insulting behavior with teachers by these departments & demand for Earned Leaves in lieu of our Summer Vacations.
