Introduction ....

Computer peripherals require service UPSs are amongst items which require maximum service support.

Function of a UPS • Power a PC with monitor • Use Mains power, when available • When Mains fails, provide power from battery • When mains is restored, recharge battery • Indicators on a UPS Green on Mains Red on Battery

What are the components

A UPS

A Power Source • The mains chord of the UPS should be connected to a AC socket.

And Load (PC/ 60 - 140 W Bulb) • The load should be connected to the sockets in the back panel of the UPS • In the picture shown a bulb is connected

Load

Connect load to sockets in the back of UPS

Now test the UPS • Switch on Mains • After 5 seconds the UPS ON (Green) lights up • Switch on the UPS, Load should come on • Switch off mains supply • The Load should continue to be on • UPS ON indicator should be RED PROBLEM ?

Common Problems… 1. No Output 2. PC works on Battery but not on Mains 3. PC works on Mains but not on Battery 4. Low Backup of less than 5 minutes 5. PC reboots when Mains fails/ restores (Sometimes customer may report this as no backup) Press Enter/ Click

Dis-Assembling Check before Dis-assembling a UPS 1. Note the Serial No. in the back of the UPS 2. If the Serial No. sticker is tampered with or removed, the warranty is void. 3. Check for any signs of tampering with the UPS. If it is tampered by any unauthorised person, then also the warranty is void. Press Enter/ Click

Dis-Assembling Dis-assembling a UPS 4. Unplug connectors 1 to 4 on PCB 5. Un-Screw the Lugs on heat sinks

Dis-Assembling Dis-assembling a UPS 6. Un-Screw the PCB by removing fixing screws 1 to 4. Note : Preserve the Fibre washers under the PCB carefully

Dis-Assembling Location of important components

Output Power Resistance Transform

Re-Assembly Keep all components in one place 1. Fix Battery, if removed. 2. Fix PCB with screws. Ensure fiber washer under the PCB in the front. 3. Fix the connections to the Heat Sink. 4. Plug all the connectors 1 to 4 carefully. 5. Connect the battery, ensure that the lugs are tight. Note : Fix Fiber washers under the PCB without Fail
