Happy National Senior Center Month!! To honor the occasion we will be celebrating all month with a variety of activities and outings. Each week we will be focusing on an aspect of our mission statement which is: “to provide opportunities for older adults to improve their talents, enrich their minds, give service in the community, develop meaningful friendships and help maintain physical health through good nutrition and exercise.” Some highlights will be a talent show, free watercolor class, wii bowling tournament, trip to deliver quilts we’ve made to the Ronald McDonald house, 80’s+ party, a mile walk, flu shot clinic, share the harvest auction, assemble emergency kits and a healthy cooking class. Be sure and check the calendar for all the exciting events and times. Come and see how the Magna Senior Center can enrich your life. Marianne Directors Corner:

for the Month of September 2009

Sarah (Sally) Anne Lewis Kerr was born 14 August 1928 in Kingman, Arizona to Loren Aldridge Lewis and Katherine Violet Delgardo Lewis. Sally’s siblings were George (deceased), Arthur and Karen. Sally didn’t attend school because of health reasons after the 3rd grade. Sally has worked in the fields of dishwashing, and laundry. She worked for her foster grandmother for 19 years as well as for her mother. Sally married Justin Andrew Kerr April 18, 1949 in Elko, Nevada. Together they had four children, Richard, Debra, Glen and Luanne. Sally had 16 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 2 great-greatgrandchildren. Sally moved to Magna in 1954 to be closer to stores and better schools. Sally has been coming to the Center for 24 years ( a real trooper) off and on. Sally loves to play games, and the wonderful friendship she has here. Sally also enjoys to read. Sally’s words of advice she would like to leave for posterity is: Trust in God for all His many blessings, and be kind to others.
