Related Work Experience Immersion to Immokalee, Fla. | Participant Spring 2016 • Spoke with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and learned about their history of advocacy for migrant farmworkers in the United States. Maintained contact with the CIW after the trip & organized 4 trips for the organization to visit Cleveland, helping • them speak in 30 classrooms, on a Cleveland radio channel, host 2 presentations and orchestrated a protest for fair food and wages outside a local Wendy’s. • A group I continue to advocate for, I have learned how spreading your message is essential and the grave importance of respecting every human person. Immersion to U.S.-Mexico Border | Participant January 2017 • Learned the history of immigration in the United States, studied the media’s representation of migration and witnessed an immigration court hearing. Upon return to JCU, helped organize a week’s worth of events including hosting an immigration lawyer and placing • crosses and butterflies around campus to symbolize the amount of migrants who have lost their lives at the border. Immersion to El Salvador | Student Coordinator January 2018 • Selected, managed, and cultivated community amongst 15 students and 2 faculty coordinators in a 10-day trip to El Salvador. • Co-leading this group, I learned that true leaders ensure the success and safety of their group before their own. Youth for Justice Service Program | Student Coordinator January 2017 – Present Create lesson plans, connect with teachers and train tutors for a yearlong program that focuses on educating 8th • grade students on their rights, liberties and responsibilities as citizens of the United States. • In this project, I witness the true power of education in cultivating the next generation of intelligent, advocacyoriented students. Other Involvement John Carroll University Sustainability Committee | Member August 2017 – Present • Work directly with administrators, staff and students to address our university’s sustainability while exploring methods of improvement and increasing knowledge regarding sustainable practices on our campus.
