A tribute to my mother Katherine Franke Elbreder: I love the hands that cradled me When I was very small And also wiped my foolish tears These hands that could cure all I love the scented perfume she wears Fragrance ever so sweet I even love the ground she walks That is beneath her feet ~Marlene Rabe, Concord Village
Lisa, Anna and Chris Struckhoff
Not only has my mother been a wonderful parent, but when I adopted my daughter from Vietnam, my mother made the trip with me and taught me how to comfort and care for my daughter. As a single parent, I could not do this without her help. She is the best mother and grandmother around! ~Lisa Struckhoff, Concord Village

“Since moving to Provision Living, my daughter sleeps better at night. And so do I!”
• I catch myself mouthing the lyrics to, “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair.” It’s an odd choice for a 51year-old male, married with child. The tune comes not from “South Pacific,” but from my mother, who would gleefully belt out this and other standards while ironing. The wrinkles were lifted from Dad’s slacks and collared shirts to Mom’s rendition of “Sisters.” There was also the popular Tommy Dorsey/ Frank Sinatra tune “Dolores.” Old Green Eyes — Dolores — sang it as she slid a hissing, electric iron across my navy blue St. Ambrose pants. ~Kevin Murphy, Webster Groves

A tribute to Grandma Kaiser: My grandma is an amazing role model as she approaches every day with class, grace and loyalty. ~Mary Kaiser Price, St. Louis I would like to thank my grandma for teaching me about life, love and family. ~Jayne Kaiser, Chandler, AZ My grandma is the greatest because she is humble and graceful. ~David Kaiser, St. Louis St. Louis favorites: the Arch, gooey butter, Forest Park, the Cardinals, Ted Drewes, and my Grandma. Happy Mother’s Day Grandma! ~Paul Kaiser, Milwaukee, WI

My mom was my first best friend, my very first Valentine. I am the woman I am today because of her. My mom represents everything that is beautiful and true in this world. I will always be the luckiest girl in the world because Irma Patton is my mom. ~Claire Patton Budd, Concord Village •

Motherhood takes time, effort, and a whole lot of love. My mom is the essence of that description. From the time I was born until now, when I am about to embark on a new journey, college, she has been there, through everything. She consoles me in my failures and shares in my successes. ~Joseph Niebling, Fenton
Our beloved mother, Jennie Cammarata, passed away 15 years ago. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was loving, kind to everyone she met, and above all, a best friend to her children and grandchildren. Her memory will live in our hearts forever. Our mother was truly a gift. ~Antoinette Cammarata, Clayton

Although we are scattered from New York to California, and a few states inbetween, you know you can always get us home by promising some Rice Krispie Treats. We are so glad you are feeling better and can enjoy your Mother’s Day at home. ~The Chambers Family New York, Illinois, Colorado, California and Missouri
The life of a mother is never easy, From yelling kids to dishes so greasy. Sassy dads and thankless jobs. Lots of laundry, diapers and slobs. But for all those troubles a mother endures, We want you to know that although so demure, You bathe us and feed us with nary a peep, For a lifetime of love from your three little sheep. ~Paige, Colin and Ian, Mehlville • My mother had a plaque that stated: “I shall pass this way but once, therefore any good that I can do or any kindness that I can show, let me do it now for I shall not pass this way again.” The plaque is on my wall now, a forever remembrance of Mom’s compassion for others. ~Joan Lowrey, St. Louis
