The School of Clinical Medicine is the name of the medical school of the University of Cambridge in England. [edit] The Clinical School Students from Cambridge University can enter the clinical school on completion of three years of pre-clinical training and a further interviewing process. Applicants from outside Cambridge University are also invited to apply providing they meet the entry requirements. The number of medical students leaving Cambridge after their pre-clinical studies is variable, but common destinations include Oxford and the London medical schools. The majority of clinical medical training in Cambridge takes place at the School of Clinical Medicine located on the Addenbrooke's Hospital site. The Clinical School was established in 1976 when construction of the new Addenbrooke's building was underway. The opening of the Clinical School meant the beginning of a completely new medical course at Cambridge University. As of 2008 the medical school accepts some 280 British medical students each year and an additional 20 candidates from overseas. Curiously, at 5 applications per place in 2008 it was statistically one of the least oversubscribed medical schools in the UK [1]. [edit] Entry Requirements In a similar fashion to other course's entry requirements at Cambridge University, the standard offer of a place at the medical school requires an AAA* grade to be achieved at A level. Passes at grades A* to C in Double Award Science and Mathematics are the only GCSE requirements stated. Though an applicant will need to fulfil the matriculation requirements of the University (which include other GCSE passes).
