TO CHECK FOR UNDERGROUND WATER LINES, SEWERAGE LINES, ELECTRIC / TELEPHONE CABLES ETC BEFORE START OF EXCAVATION. EXCAVATED MATERIAL TO BE KEPT AT LEAST 1.5 METERS OR HALF THE DEPTH OF THE PIT, WHICHEVER IS MORE, AWAY FROM THE EDGE OF THE PITS.  BOULDERS ETC. TO BE STACKED AWAY TO AVOID FALLING BACK INSIDE THE PIT.

STEPPED OR SLOPED EXCAVATION IN SANDY /LOOSE SOIL LOCATIONS.

THE AREA TO BE FENCED WITH WARNING SIGNS( LUMINOUS IF NECESSARY) CLOSE TO VILLAGES . HEAVY MACHINERY TO BE PLACED AWAY FROM THE EDGE OF THE PITS AND ANCHORED.  VIBRATORS SHOUD BE PLACED ADEQUATELY AWAY FROM

PITS AND ANCHORED. WHEEL BLOCKS TO BE PROVIDED TO THE CONCRETE MIXERS.

PIT SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY CHECKED DAILY BY AN EXPERIENCED AND COMPETENT PERSON FOR DEVELOPMENT

OF CRACKS . LONE WORKER NOT TO BE ALLOWED TO WORK IN EXCAVATION AND FOUNDATION AREA. ALL WORKMEN WORKING INSIDE THE PIT MUST WEAR SAFETY HELMETS, GUM BOOTS, HAND GLOVES ETC. SHORING AND SHUTTERING TO PREVENT PIT COLLAPSE, WHERE NECESSARY. SLOPE CUTTING TO BE DONE AT COLLAPSING SOILS.

USAGE OF SHALLOW FOUNDATIONS IN COLLAPSING SOILS IF NECESSARY ( IN CONSULTATION WITH CC/RHQ ENGG.)

JACKS ARE TO BE PLACED ON LEVEL GROUND. SAND BAG TEMPLATE SUPPORTING JACKS ARE TO BE

PLACED EVENLY AND AWAY FROM THE EDGE OF THE PIT. SUPPORTS TO BE PLACED BELOW THE JACKS FOR EVEN DISTRIBUTION OF LOAD. CHECK FOR LEVELS AND DIAGONALS BEFORE CONCRETING DAILY DEWATERING PUMP TO BE PLACED ADEQUATELY AWAY AND ANCHORED.

LADDERS ARE TO BE POSITIONED PROPERLY. USAGE OF STEEL LADDERS WITH ADEQUATE LENGTH FOR EASY MOVEMENT OF WORKMEN IN AND OUT OF THE PIT. LADDERS ARE TO EXTEND AT LEAST ONE METRE ABOVE GROUND LEVEL. WORKMEN WORKING ABOVE PROTRUDING REINFORCEMENT BARS SHOULD PROTECT THEMSELVES.  FIRST- AID BOX SHOULD BE AVAILABLE AT SITE.

AVOID TIME DELAY BETWEEN EXCAVATION AND FOUNDATION ACTIVITIES.

SUFFICIENT AREA FOR FREE MOVEMENT OF MEN AND MATERIAL. ERECTION GANG SHOULD HAVE SUFFICIENT SKILL AND EXPERIENCE FOR THE JOB. COMPETENT AND EXPERIENCED SUPERVISORS/GANG LEADERS SHOUD BE AVAILABLE WITH EACH GANG .

DERRICKS AND OTHER LOAD BEARING T & P S MUST BE OF GOOD QUALITY, OF SUFFICIENT CAPACITY FOR THE JOB. T&P SHALL BE TESTED AND HAVE PROPER TEST CERTIFICATES.

FOUNDATION TO BE PROPERLY BACK FILLED AND COMPACTED. REVETMENT WORKS SHOULD BE COMPLETED IN ALL ASPECTS BEFORE START OF STRINGING.

EARTHING OF TOWER MUST BEFORE STARTING STRG. ACTIVITY. DERRICKS ARE TO BE PROVIDED WITH THREE GUY ROPES(AND NOT TWO AS IS BEING FOLLOWED). T & P’s AND PPE’s ARE TO BE THOROUGHLY CHECKED FOR THEIR HEALTHINESS DAILY BEFORE USE.

ALL PPES SHOULD BE AVAILABLE AT SITE AND CHECKED FOR THEIR CONDITION DAILY.  ALL SUPERVISORS/WORKMEN AT ERECTION SITE MUST ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY HELMETS.

 SAFETY BELTS TO BE WORN PROPERLY. ALL SAFETY EQUIPMENT MUST BE CE / ISI MARKED. ASCENDING ON AND DECENDING FROM THE TOWER SHOULD BE THROUGH STEP BOLTS ONLY. WORKMEN HAVING ANY INJURY MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO WORK ON TOWER.  TOWERS ARE TO BE ERECTED IN A SEQUENTIAL MANNER.  ONLY ONE MAIN LEG SECTION SHOULD BE ERECTED AT A TIME.

 GUYS ARE TO BE ANCHORED TO A STRONG ANCHORAGE POINT.  ONE ANCHORAGE POINT MUST NOT SUPPORT MORE THAN ONE GUY.

MAXIMUM ANGLE FOR THE GUY ROPE IS 450. MAIN LEG MEMBERS ARE TO BE LIFTED ALONG WITH STEP BOLTS, FULLY TIGHTENED ( WHERE APPLICABLE ).

ALL NUTS SHALL BE HAND TIGHTENED FULLY BEFORE BEING HOISTED, DURING ERECTION . ASCENDING ON AND DESCENDING FROM THE TOWER SHOULD

BE THROUGH STEP BOLTS ONLY.  HEAVY SECTIONS SHOULD PREFERABLY BE LIFTED WITH THE HELP OF TRACTORS.

PRIOR TO ERECTION OF UPPER SECTION , TOWER SECTION SHALL BE COMPLETELY BRACED.

 PRIOR INFORMATION ABOUT HOSPITAL / DOCTORS IN THE VICINITY SHALL BE AVAILABLE WITH SITE SUPERVISORS.  ALL SITE ENGINEERS/ SUPERVISORS/ GANG INCHARGES SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH MOBILE PHONES, FOR ANY EXIGENCY.

 ALL PLAN DIOGONALS OF RELEVANT SECTION SHALL BE IN PLACE PRIOR TO ASSEMBLY OF UPPER SECTION .  SUPPORT OF A STRONG ANCHORAGE POINT TO PREVENT SLIPPAGE DURING MANUAL LIFTING.  WORK SHOULD NOT BE CONTINUED UNDER INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS.  PROTECT WIRE ROPE / PP ROPE WRAPPED AROUND TOWER MEMBERS BY USING GUNNY BAGS.

 IN THEFT PRONE AREAS TACK-WELDING OF B/N TO BE TAKEN UP IMMEDIATELY AFTER ERECTION

SRAINING OF MEMBERS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED. HAMMERING OF BOLTS MUST BE AVOIDED – REF. FDN LEVELS & DIAGONALS FIRST-AID BOX SHOULD BE AVAILABLE AT SITE. AT LEAST TWO MEMBERS OF EACH GANG MUST HAVE

BEEN TRAINED IN FIRST-AID. ONE VEHICLE SHOULD BE AVAILABLE AT EACH SITE FOR ANY EMERGENCY.

CHECK FOR COMPLETION OF ERECTION AND TIGHTENING & PUNCHING OF BOLTS NUTS OF TOWERS. ANY OTHER POINTS – Revetment, Earthing etc. SUFFICIENT AREA FOR FREE MOVEMENT OF MEN AND MATERIAL. STRINGING GANG SHOULD HAVE SUFFICIENT NO. OF SKILLED AND EXPERIENCED MANPOWER FOR THE JOB. EACH GANG SHALL BE HEADED BY COMPETENT AND EXPERIENCED ENGINEERS / SUPERVISORS .

TSE AND ALL OTHER LOAD BEARING T & PS MUST BE OF GOOD QUALITY, OF SUFFICIENT CAPACITY FOR THE JOB, TESTED AND HAVE PROPER TEST CERTIFICATES.

T & P’s ARE TO BE THOROUGHLY CHECKED FOR THEIR HEALTHINESS DAILY BEFORE USE.

ALL SUPERVISORS/WORKMEN AT ERECTION SITE MUST ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY HELMETS. WORKMEN WORKING ON TOWER ARE TO ALWAYS USE SAFETY

BELTS. SAFETY BELTS TO BE WORN PROPERLY. ALL SAFETY EQUIPMENTS MUST BE CE / ISI MARKED. WORKMEN HAVING ANY INJURY NOT TO WORK ON THE TOWER.

TENSIONER AND PULLER MUST BE PROPERLY ANCHORED AND EARTHED. RELIABLE AND EFFICIENT COMMUNICATION ARRANGEMENT.

STRINGING SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN UP IF COMMUNICATION EQPT. IS NOT AVAILABLE/NOT WORKING AT SITE. SAFE LOADING / UNLOADING OF CONDUCTOR / EARTH-WIRE DRUMS AT SITE USING CRANES. PROPER POSITIONING OF CONDUCTOR DRUMS. RUNNING BLOCK (EARTH) TO BE PROVIDED FOR BOTH CONDUCTOR AND EARTHWIRE DURING PAYING OUT. EARTHING OF TOWERS IN THE SECTION TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE TAKING UP STRINGING.

FOR STRINGING ON ONE SIDE OF THE SECTION PROPER GUYING AND BACK-STAY TO BE PROVIDED. GUYING AND BACK-STAYING OF ALL TENSION TOWERS.

GUYING AND BACK-STAYING IS TO BE DONE BY 16 MM DIA. STEEL WIRE ROPE ONLY WITH ANCHORING ADEQUATELY AWAY FROM TOWER – 45 Deg. IF GUYING AND BACK-STAYING IS TO BE LEFT FOR A LONG DURATION, THE ANCHORING AREA IS TO BE FENCED AND WATCHMAN TO BE POSTED. GUYING AND BACK-STAYING SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR IS FOR

OF D –TYPE TOWERS ALSO.

GUYING AND BACK-STAYING - PROVISION FOR ADJUSTMENT OF TENSION OF THE GUY WIRES USING TURN BUCKLES ETC.

GUYING AND BACK-STAYING - TO BE CHECKED PERIODICALLY. AS FAR AS PRACTICABLE, SOME JUMPERS ARE TO BE LEFT DISCONNECTED.

SEQUENCE OF PAYING OUT SHOULD BE FROM TOP TO DOWN FOR D/C LINES. FOR S/C TOWERS INNER PHASE SHALL BE STRUNG BEFORE TAKING UP OUTER PHASES.

NO WORK SHOULD BE CONTINUED IF THUNDER STORM IS EXPECTED. PROTECT WIRE ROPE / PP ROPE WRAPPED AROUND TOWER MEMBERS USING GUNNY BAGS ETC.

CONDUCTORS SHOULD NOT BE LEFT IN SUCH A POSITION THAT IT MAY CAUSE DANGER TO GENERAL PUBLIC.

RANDOM INSPECTION OF HARDWARE FITTINGS.

EXTRA PRECAUTIONS WHILE SAGGING SHORT SPANS/ SINGLE SPAN REACHES. LOCAL VILLAGERS, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN SHOULD BE

FORE-WARNED. DURING FINAL SAGGING AFTER THE LOAD IS TRANSFERRED TO THE TOWER, SUFFICIENT TIME MUST BE ALLOWED FOR THE

LOAD TO BE STABILISE. FOR CROSSING ANY EXISTING CHARGED LINE, SHUT DOWN AND PTW FOR THE EXISTING LINE MUST BE TAKEN.IT SHALL BE ENSURED THAT THE LINE IS EARTHED AT BOTH SUB-

STAIONS AND LOCALLY AT SITE.

SAFETY ASPECTS TO BE FOLLOWED WHILE  STRINGING RAILWAY CROSSINGS  EHT LINE CROSSINGS ALL THE INSULATOR STRINGS SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY CHECKED BEFORE LIFTING.

FOR WORKING ON THE CONDUCTOR OR INSULATOR STRING, SAFETY BELTS WITH TWINLANYARDS TO BE USED.

1. ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS FOR STRINGING IN THE VICINITY OF CHARGED OVERHEAD LINES AND IN AREAS WHERE INDUCED VOLTAGE IS ANTICIPATED ALL WINCHES, PULLEYS AND TSE MUST BE PROPERLY

EARTHED. CONDUCTOR RUNNING BLOCKS ARE TO BE EARTHED. ALL THE CONDUCTORS AT BOTH ENDS OF THE SECTION

ARE TO BE EARTHED THROUGH RUNNING EARTHS. SCAFFOLDS ARE TO BE STRONG ENOUGH, SHOULD BE ADEQUATELY EARTHED, PROVIDED WITH ANTI-CLIMBING

DEVICES AND WARNING SIGNS. SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE MUST BE MAINTAINED FROM EXISTING CHARGED LINES AFTER ROUGH SAG .

PROVISION FOR BRAKING OF PAYING OUT OF CONDUCTOR AT ANY POINT. EARTH WIRE SHOULD BE EARTHED BEFORE EARTH BOND IS

FITTED. NYLON OR PP ROPES SHOULD BE USED FOR HAULING / CONTROLLING SPACERING CYCLE.

2.- PRECAUTIONS WHILE CROSSING LT LINES NETWORK OF THE LT LINES IN THE VICINITY IS TO BE THOROUGHLY CHECKED AND ADEQUATE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TAKEN.

IT SHALL BE ENSURED THAT THERE IS NO BACK FEED ON THE LINE UNDER PTW. FOR CROSSING THE LT LINES, SHUT DOWN AND PTW FOR THE LT LINE. ONLY TAKING OF SHUT DOWN AND PTW WILL NOT BE SUFFICIENT.

THE POINT(S) OF ISOLATION OF THE LT LINE MUST BE PROPERLY PROTECTED BY MANNING. THE POINT(S) OF ISOLATION MUST BE KEPT UNDER LOCK AND KEY. BOTH SIDES OF THE WORKING AREA MUST BE PROTECTED BY PROVIDING WITH TEMPORARY EARTHS. PROPER QUALITY OF DISCHARGE RODS ARE TO BE USED. DISCHARGE RODS TO BE FIXED PROPERLY. EARTH END AND CONDUCTOR END TO HAVE SOLID CONTACTS.

HANGING THE HOOK OF THE DISCHARGE ROD LOOSELY ON THE CONDUCTOR NOT TO BE ALLOWED.

DISCHARGE RODS TO REMAIN CONNECTED TO THE LT LINE UNTIL ALL

MEN AND MATERIAL ARE REMOVED.

NO ONE TO TOUCH THE LT LINE AFTER THE DISCHARGE RODS HAVE BEEN REMOVED, EVEN IF THE LT LINE IS UNDER SHUT

OWN. DISCHARGE RODS TO CONFORM TO THE RELEVANT IEC STANDARDS. ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE HAND GLOVES TO BE PROVIDED AND USED. LT LINES TO BE CROSSED AND ON WHICH SHUT DOWN NEED TO BE AVAILED, SHOULD BE SHORT CIRCUITED AND EARTHED AT BOTH SIDES OF THE AREA OF WORK IMMEDIATELY AFTER TAKING THE SHUT DOWN.
