I read with interest the advert on your website for positions on the Baillie Gifford Investment Management Graduate Programme. The international dimension of the work on offer and the exciting nature of the investment industry makes a career as an investment manager with Baillie Gifford an extremely attractive prospect. Currently in the last year of a law degree at the University of Edinburgh, I am looking for a graduate training role in a dynamic industry, which will build upon those elements of my degree that interested me the most and which will give me an opportunity to further my personal interests in business, financial and international affairs. Outside of study, I take a keen interest in sport, representing Scotland at cricket from under 15 through to International level and also playing rugby, football and basketball to a regional standard while at school. Throughout my studies at the University of Edinburgh I have taken an interest in business and actively followed affairs within the commercial market place. I believe that the skills I have gained during my degree are highly transferable into the financial sector; for example I am currently undertaking a dissertation investigating the Lloyds TSB – Halifax Bank of Scotland banking merger from a competition law and public policy perspective. A career with Scotland's leading independent investment manager would provide me with a fantastic opportunity to further my personal interests in business, financial and international affairs.
