Total Wine Total Wine in Roseville is home to more than 11,000 varieties of alcohol. COURTESY

COURTESY

Total Wine is home to not only wine, but beer and spirits. The company began when a brother duo purchased two small wine stores and has grown into a wine shop with locations in 10 states.

Shop averages 8,000 wines in-stock daily otal Wine bills itself as “America’s Wine Superstore” – and it’s easy to see why. With an average of wines BEST WINE SHOP 8,000 in stock, the big box-style retailer is a Mecca for wine enthusiasts, as well as a necessary first stop for a neophyte vinophile’s introductory education. And the Potomac, Maryland-

T

based retailer, which opened its first California location in Roseville last year at 5791 Five Star Blvd., doesn’t stop with wine. “We are committed to having the best wine, beer and spirits selection,” the company states on its Web site. To wit, visitors can expect 2,000 spirits and 1,000 different beers, as well as high-end cigars, gift items and wine accessories. And while Total Wine is now the largest independent fine wine retailer in the country, its roots are more humble. It all started in 1991 when brothers David and Robert Trone purchased two small wine stores in

Delaware. Over the next 17 years, the company has expanded into 10 states and become the only major fine wine company to operate in multiple states. All of the sites are staffed by leading professionals who must demonstrate comprehensive wine knowledge before they are invited to join the company’s team. With an enduring passion for wine, they’re eager to share their knowledge and love of wine with customers, from beginning to advanced. In fact, the company firmly believes that an educated consumer is its best customer. Therefore, in addition to expert assistance, you’ll find wine education seminars and wine tastings to educate the public about wine producers, their history and wine-making techniques. Roseville, with its high-end demographics and business-friendly climate, proved an irresistible lure for Total Wine – and the company’s first foothold into the Golden State. Overseen by Store Manager Ed Fabian, the location in the Fairway Commons Shopping Center boasts approximately 25,000-square-feet of

Step inside, and you’ll find 1,100 cabernet sauvignons, 750 chardonnays, 500 merlots, 250 zinfandels and 600 pinot noirs. That’s in addition to 500 vodkas, 220 scotches, 230 rums and a wide variety of premixed cocktails, mixers and bar supplies. Total Wine is open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
