More accountability or a tougher stance taken on students putting things into a real world 3 context. 2 we need to find out what is getting in the way.... Asking further questions of students might be useful to find out why some classes are disruptive - is it the physical set up of the room, time of classes, students with learning 4 challenges etc? 4 We need to look honest look at what actually goes on in the classroom. More consistency amongst our classroom management and behaviour strategies... Consistency amongst homework/or lack there of strategies/consequences (Or is this more learning & teaching?) 5 More communication with staff in regards to general student wellbeing... I think we need to look into extra activities we can do with all our students at all year levels to increase their trust on each other. Also to increase there respect for each other and the ways in which others learn. Overall I think any work we can do with our students on compassion 4 and understanding would go a long way. 4 See second point in Q1. 5 keep up with the peer mentoring and support one another. None- doing ok- keep up listening to students and staff and acting appropriately and swiftly 5 when needed. 4 Student Workshops We have to work on student attitudes but how. It really starts with the positiveness of us as 6 teachers. This is an area where somehow we need to continue to develop our student responsibilities 4 to their rights. How - we need feedback from the students. Maybe having a strong discipline attitude to students who do distract other students and 4 prevent them from effective learning. 5 Greater staff reflection on lessons and sharing of strategies. The diverse learning team will have an impact on some of this information. In three years time 4 it would be hoped that a change has occurred. 4 Detentions / suspensions. If they just get a 'slap on the wrist' then they will 'reoffend' The disruption in classrooms appears to usually be relatively low level stuff. Implementing a push among staff to try to crack down on things across all classes (with all teachers on board) might help minimise such disruptions to learning. For e.g. if all teachers cracked down on poor punctuality, students would stop being as late to class as often (outside of exceptional circumstances), and less disruption to learning would occur as a result. Potentially something 3 to keep in mind for later on! Work to develop greater personal social and emotional intelligences in staff and students so that in conjunction with getting to know students better can deal and identify concerns more readily and address more effectively. Establish counselling information forums on topics such as empathy, depression, stress etc so as to arm students more readily with effective tools to deal with situations. This also gives opportunities for students to gather info in a more public forum that one on one with 5 counsellors if unwilling.
Provide opportunities for student who are coping well in areas to run these also sharing what works for them and steps they follow. This will propagate strategies for students. Build stronger relationship's with students so that they all feel free to ask for assistance 5 whatever point on the academic spectrum they are. Perhaps more lunch time clubs? 6 . 5 Continue and further develop what we are doing. 4
