Donald Desmond 401-954-5401 [email protected] I am seeking a position with a farsighted company where I can make a contribution to the company’s success utilizing my diverse experience and sales skills. My strengths have always been in my perseverance and the ability to open doors, identify and eventually reach the various buying influences in a given company. 1992 – Present I founded Desmond & Co., as an Independent Manufacturer’s Representative Agency with a single principal. Continually added complimentary lines and services and grew sales to over $1,000,000.00 in less than three years. Eventually was covering most of the US for three companies. Cut back to three of the most complimentary principals with the greatest sales potential and concentrated my sales efforts on the companies and industries that used the products and services of the three, which were primarily oil and gas, power generation, and defense. 1990 - 1992 BZ Engineering Co - Cumberland, RI - Sales Representative – Duties were to solicit new business for the company’s somewhat modular, custom built, automated manufacturing solutions in an unlimited geographic territory. I enjoyed success in acquiring new accounts although, in several cases, the company was unable to deliver on time or to specification. I was laid off shortly before the company closed. 1987 -1990 MBL Industrial Belting – Edison, NJ – District Sales Manager – This was a new venture for MBL, previously serving only the automotive market. Major responsibility was the promotion of MBL industrial belts to the OEM market as well as a network of industrial and power transmission distributors. This effort included account management, group presentations and product education. I was laid off when the company appeared to be exiting the industrial business, which they ultimately did. 1985 – 1987 Grainger, Inc – Account Manager – Started with Grainger when there was emphasis on selling directly to the end user in order to maximize profits, which was my forte. Consistently exceeded sales goals and was salesman of the month on two occasions. I was being considered for a promotion to District Sales Manager when I decided to leave for another opportunity. Education Charter Oak College – New Britain, CT – AA/Marketing
