Research Tools Using Mullins Library 1. Journal Article Name of Journal: Female Athletes’ Perceptions of Teammate Conflict in Sport: Implications for Sport Psychology Consultants Author: Nicholas L. Holt, Camilla J. Knight, and Peter Zuiwwski Year: 2012 Summary: The purpose of this journal article was to identify if there are specific conflicts in women’s varsity team sports. This is being researched to try to find a way to optimize teammates performance and reduce conflict among teammates. In the study they interviewed 19 women from four different sports. The study showed that most of the conflict occurred from performance and relationships on the team. The article identifies multiple strategies to manage and resolve conflict. This included early teambuilding, addressing conflict early, mediation, and structured team meetings. 2. Theses and Dissertations Name of Dissertation: The Conceptualization and Measurement of Sport-Confidence Author: Robin Vealey Year: 1984 Summary: This study included 666 high school and college athletes. The purpose of this study is to determine whether an athlete own perception of confidence effects their athletic performance. Athletes were tested on their measurement of sports confidence by the State Sport Confidence Inventory. To predict behavior athletes had to have competitive orientation towards a certain goal. The research concluded that older male athletes that were more experienced scored

higher in the SC-State to predict performance. Younger female athletes with less experience scored the lowest in the SC-State. 3.
